Overwatch

Weird, i went 5-5 on ps4 and got 2559. i had some really strong performances as zarya, especially on the games we won, and the games we lost involved leavers and horrible team mates where we were severely outclassed.

It'd be interesting to know how their SR system works.

Indeed. I went 8-2 and only got placed 2625 which I thought was quite low. Didn't play bad, but not my best. Though I was cornered into playing support most of the time but they've apparently fixed that issue with support ranking up slower so who knows.

my tips for Zarya are being really careful with your shield usage. wait until someone is taking decent damage before using shields on them. hooks from hog, charges from rein etc. using a shield and not netting a decent bit of charge is the worst thing you can do as zarya.

try and bait firestrikes from rein for an easy 50 charge, and remember you can tank ults from dva, junkrat etc with a shield for a free 50 charge.

getting your charge up fast and staying alive so you can actually make use of it is the most important so don't be too aggressive until your team have the advantage in a fight.
passive right clicks are good for early splash damage and then go in with left click and high charge to clean up the stragglers.

she's one of the strongest heroes in the game to become proficient with imo, so worth putting some time in with her.

yeah i'd expect a high SR from 8-2. I'd be a bit annoyed if i ended up with that after a good placement showing.

Maybe because after my first 5 placements I was 1-4, where I ended up being healer as no one else would do. For some reason, I can never get good heals with Lucio, who is the only healer I can get one with.

Plus, I'm not very good :P

4 losses, 5 wins and a draw.
Order was L, L, W, L, L, W, W, W, W, D
played all roles over those games (tank VERY badly. But hey). I thought it was a 5000 pt scale, meaning in in the bottom half.

It is a 5000 point scale, but being under 2500 doesn't mean you're in the bottom half of players. I believe 2500 is equivalent of rank 60 from last season, which is the top 6% of players. The vast majority of players will be 2000-2300.

Wound up in Platinum.

On tonight for quite a few games, would be good to play with some people and not SoloQ. Had some terrible experience with people picking useless heroes and then sticking with them the entire map even though it's not working (e.g. attacking with Mei). Basically makes it 5v6!

Play DPS as I've got a good aim from too many years of CS.

BattleNet = Wardie #21727

Add me :)

I made it into Platinum!
Although looking again it may be silver...
Yeah, think it's silver!

Did not have a good placement run, 3-7 in the end. Although solo Q so some of (both wins and loses) were just down to the team. I'm sure we've all had games like that. The curse of solo queuing.

To be honest I'm not really too worried, just in it to have fun.

I got 2700, would really love to hit diamond, have managed to climb to 2800 but it tends to but 2 steps forward 1 step back.

Lost one match as i had a power cut and when i came back on it didnt even give me the option to reconnect.

Has to be within 60 seconds I think, but the match would still count as a loss even if you rejoined and won... and actually have they changed it because it seems to me now when you have somebody on your team leave you can't leave anymore without it counting as a loss even after the 60 seconds are up... sort of sucks being punished for other people leaving (or was this how it worked before and I'm remembering wrong?)

Had 2 good games tonight with a group I met in season 1... Feel like I do so much better when grouped with other people than solo (or more like having competent team-mates gives everyone a better chance to shine?)

Been getting quite high ping in Overwatch lately making it hard to play meaning I'm constantly leaving games and as a result getting penalized.

I've ran a diagnostic using battle.net's own tool and this was the result. Anything obvious?

Well, after 4 losses in a row (some closer than others) I'm now lower than I calibrated...
Maybe a sign I should stick to quick play? It's just people can be so annoying in quick play (well, competitive too but...)

You'll be grouping with absolute trash players, it'll always happen around the beginning of placements. Just give it a rest and come back when the cr*p down ranks themselves.

Placements is only 10 games. It's a rough estimate based on your season 1 rank. It takes literally 100s of games to find your actual rank. Don't worry about it.

A few of us teamed up for few games last night. Managed to do a few 6 man. Started off well with a win, followed by a narrow loss. Then we had a player leave, which in my ultimate wisdom I decided to replace with a diamond rank player. Dragged our gold/plat ranked team against a full rank plat team (all close to diamond themselves). Despite that we were seconds from holding out for a draw, but they were clearly better. It was not bad for a thrown together team that never played with each other before mind.

Hehe, you make me feel bad for leaving. Dog hadn't had a walk all day and time was ticking on so I went out jogging with her.

Anything more than a group of 3-4 and we are asking for trouble though as you tend to get put against people who regularly play together and tactically are probably a bit more in sync.

Not that we were bad. That 2nd game was so close we were unlucky not to salvage a draw.
