Overwatch

My karma must be at an all time low. I keep getting matched up with people wanting to try the surprise bastion/symm/torb strategies on koth or attack maps :c

Anyone else stuck in this solo queue hell or is it just me? :D

Just had 4 games.

game 1 = 4 people left - loss
game 2 = 2 people left - loss
game 3 = 1 person left - loss
game 4 = win, destroyed other team

Sigh....

I play nights and weekends if anyone around.

I hit rank 2499 last night at about midnight.

1 away from Platinum!

I though "one more game to get me over and i'll go to bed"

Come 2:00 a.m I was at 2485 still thinking "just one more game"

Then I was put with one of the worst teams i've been solo queued with - Bear in mind I am gold and these were all Platinum people, I was the only gold.

Route 66

We started as 'Defend'

Team composition was Mcree, Reaper, Mei, Junkrat and Soldier 76! Not one tank or healer

I opted for Reinhardt since clearly nobody wanted to tank but as soon as my shield was down I was toast because there wasn't a mercy or someone helping to keep me alive. At some point I switched to Mercy, but it was no good.

They cruised to the end.

We switched to attack and I went for Roadhog, but we had Torb (attacking!), Widowmaker, Hanzo, Mcree and Ana.

Just the trollingist team you can get. And none of them would change. It's like they didn't even want to win.

Anyway, I stopped playing at 2:30 a.m and am Rank 2461.....

Idiots.

I had a few great games last night which were both wins, so am now sitting at about 2350, pretty close to my original placement rank. I'm hoping Platinum should be achievable by the end of the season but we'll see...

I also turned off the chat in those games for the first time... so peaceful... eventually you forget you turned it off and it just feels like people are politely not saying anything :)

I can't get out of Platinum myself - win, lose, win, lose. Just can't break free - Solo queue is going to destroy my soul.

After dropping down in the 1800's (feelsbadman). I managed to get my act together and try hard less. (yes, the less try hard, the better things are). I have now moved up to a personal best 2202. All in 2 hard days of work. Maybe I will make it up to platinum after all.

I think it's going to be extremely difficult for any Plat player to reach Diamond whilst only really solo cueing. Even with a good group with solid communication I've been struggling to win consistently enough to climb past my initial rank.

People are blaming the new ranking system and whist it's not perfect, we forget that it's still close to the start of the season. Got to give it some time for the good and bad players to go up or down appropriately.

Plus, if we end the season at the same place we started it means... the ranking system works? Unless we are constantly improving at a higher rate than the average player of our level, we'll by-and-large keep the same rank.

Yeah exactly. I personally don't have a problem with the system as it is. I think more effort could be made with placement matches being fairer. It's just too random the way it is. I'm a slightly above average player at best and I won all but 2 of my placements. Just kept getting put up against teams we'd constantly steam roll within minutes. But that seems to have balanced itself out as I'm probably winning 30-40% of matches atm.

I think the finishing rank of the previous season should be used as some kind of a reference point for the following season.

People picking well or being willing to change/adapt would help as well.

Look at yesterdays close game on Lijang tower. I think I only got silvers so I was hardly the MVP of our team, and my Winston pick in one of the rounds didn't help much, but that pharah on our side let the whole team down.

We both said it on the final round (2 - 2) that we didn't even see her ult, and then I wrote a comment in team chat about it and got no response.

You can see peoples season 1 ranks again now. Which is nice to get an idea of who to watch in the match.

If I see a previous rank 50 go dps instead of a rank 65 I voice my displeasure. :p

Got a few games in last night, thankfully the majority were of a much better quality. Almost managed to regain all the points I lost from last week after a bunch of leavers/trolls tilted me horribly.

Sitting at 2336, I am hopefully going to grind out Platinum tonight. I would want to end the season as Diamond.

Had one infuriating game on Illios that we still managed to win. Started of with a guy on the opposition team warning us that he just played with one of our players and that he picked Torbjörn on attack. Low and behold this guy was going to stick with Torbjörn again :| We got absolutely smashed the 1st point with the Torb player not even getting a turret down. Ended up with the 5 of us adapting our picks and just ignoring the Torb player for a nice 3-1 come back win :)

Only had to mute one player, a really obnoxious German who was spamming nonsense down the mic, shouting at people and generally being a toxic arse.

Oh and my favourite of the night but this game I had already written off when the 3 stack platinum crew chose Bastion/Hanzo and McCree when defending on Dorado. Mate of mine picked rein for the bastion and I chose a healer.

So we go to setup defensively on the high ground but the bastion player literally runs to their spawn and dies within 2 seconds rofl. Never seen anything like it. Of course their little stack blamed rein for not following him to their spawn......

Yep. I think she may have been sitting on it, waiting for the right moment but sometimes you can't do that. People often forget that Ults aren't kill streaks meant for team kills. Sometimes killing 1 player in a choke can make a huuuge difference.

Possibly, though we had a Zarya for a lot of the rounds who let off a few Graviton Surges, which is the perfect time to use it.

And it baffles me how some players get to Platinum - Like the Bastion running in to the enemy spawn that ColdAsIce mentioned above. Who does that?

That's true.

Goes back to my point earlier about the placement matches being slightly off. Most people (and I'm including myself here) seem to have ranked too high and are just dragging others down with them.
