I can't get out of Platinum myself - win, lose, win, lose. Just can't break free - Solo queue is going to destroy my soul.
Plus, if we end the season at the same place we started it means... the ranking system works? Unless we are constantly improving at a higher rate than the average player of our level, we'll by-and-large keep the same rank.
I know I'm not a great player, but I also know I'm not terrible either.
Will be happy to reach plat and finish in there.
Half the problem seems to be people thinking they're better then they are. We can't all be Seagull. There has to be a loosing side.
You can see peoples season 1 ranks again now. Which is nice to get an idea of who to watch in the match.Yeah exactly. I personally don't have a problem with the system as it is. I think more effort could be made with placement matches being fairer. It's just too random the way it is. I'm a slightly above average player at best and I won all but 2 of my placements. Just kept getting put up against teams we'd constantly steam roll within minutes. But that seems to have balanced itself out as I'm probably winning 30-40% of matches atm.
I think the finishing rank of the previous season should be used as some kind of a reference point for the following season.

People picking well or being willing to change/adapt would help as well.
Look at yesterdays close game on Lijang tower. I think I only got silvers so I was hardly the MVP of our team, and my Winston pick in one of the rounds didn't help much, but that pharah on our side let the whole team down.
We both said it on the final round (2 - 2) that we didn't even see her ult, and then I wrote a comment in team chat about it and got no response.
Possibly, though we had a Zarya for a lot of the rounds who let off a few Graviton Surges, which is the perfect time to use it.
And it baffles me how some players get to Platinum - Like the Bastion running in to the enemy spawn that ColdAsIce mentioned above. Who does that?
