Overwatch

Had first comp session on the US servers last night (always EU previously)... won some, lost a few more than I won. The mix of abilities in my matches still amazes me, last night ranging from a Widow repeatedly hitting headshots while airborne to Pharahs that never fly.

Anyway, although my win/loss was negative overall, I don't think I played shockingly badly, but I was getting fewer gold medals and eliminations compared to normal when I was playing dps. Also found a few times that I was having to hit E several times to get Mercy's rez to work. My ping was 120, compared to 30-35 on the EU server last night. Am I destined to fail with a 120 ping? What's the limit for acceptable?

Valkia plays on US servers with 120 ping and is Grand Master (and sometimes, top 500). So I'd say your limit is Grand Master if your skill is up to it.

I'm 90% sure I'm gonna get it tonight, last day of te sale. Can I add some some you guys to play with as I'm a total noob. Any good vids I can watch that explains strategies and characters?

Yeah I watched his phara, he hits moving targets in the face with a rocket from the other side of the map. Don't think ping matter to him with that level of skill.

Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty good with Torb, so I'll stick with using him. Just learning Sym after seeing many people say how strong she is at this level, but not having great results yet. However, not sure how you take out a whole team without trying... I quickly put Sym down using S76 if she jumps in, which makes me wonder about other silver players.

She takes a while to get the hang of, but she's devastating at low ranks.

Look up just_stevo on YT for tips on how to play her. He's a top 500 Sym main.

He's didn't get banned for being toxic, he's hardly ever toxic, he's always relaxed whilst playing. He got banned on certain accounts for doing bronze > GM streams. He plays Sym at top 500 level though. Anyone interested in playing Sym needs to watch him play, his positioning and game reading is nigh on perfect.
 
really enjoying this now. I'm level 8 and still trying to figure who I'll main. I like to rotate between Reaper, Soldier 76 and the cow boy guy.
 
"new" halloween patch yesterday meant a queue of 20,000! when I first tried to log in. Didn't take too long though and did seem to go very quickly (10 min max).

Seems the same as last year with a few tweeks. If I didn't enjoy last years event so much then I'd be a bit disappointed it was the same.
 
I haven't played last year so this was new to me. But the queues were long~ 20minutes. Managed to get all the boxes but it was a struggle with people disconnecting, does the level have anything to do with quality of the box or only more exp?

Didn't get any error messages, but yeah, several times there were spontaneous team rebuilds during team selection; and one time during the challenge I lost all three team mates at once. US based people also complaining, so I don't think it was a connection issue due to being in the UK.

However, I'm still having major issues playing on the US servers. Ping holds steady around 130, but using Soldier, my kill numbers are unusually low, and a few specific examples left me confused.
1) Killed Mercy and then Junk, moved away, then a few seconds later died to Junkrat's tyre.
2) Landing all headshots on Dva, her health bar drops to nearly zero, them immediately jumps to nearly full; but I didn't see any healing happen.
3) Used Tactical Visor, pretty certain that I got three kills, but kill count didn't change.

My accuracy is still registered as ~40%, so can't really explain why I'm getting low kills and not even getting bronze medal sometimes (which is terrible with DPS).
