Think I've just played with the worst player ever.....
Insta locks hanzo - then I checked his stats - 187 hours as Hanzo across comp play......39% win rate!! How do you not realise that your that bad at Hanzo after 187 hours!
However, was he even worse with other characters?!
I hate that moment of despair... the other day in comp, we lost the first round, and a team mate swapped to Doomfist, who I consider to be a make or break selection... I checked his stats, 20 minutes of Doomfist in all play modes over all time!!!! I tried to be polite and casually asked if the swap was because he regularly plays Doomfist... no response... I then said to please not test a new character in comp, use qp for that... no response... we lost. Might not have been his fault, but...
Something I've come to appreciate lately (and I may be slow catching on), every team needs a Q that can clear the room. This week I've been on both sides of a payload map, and found that if the defense takes over the payload in a choke point, it can be really hard for the attacking team to get control back without a Q that does crowd control from afar (Dva, Junk, Hanzo, Winston, Doomfist). Rein and Reaper might work, but you might struggle to get close enough, and even Winston might be a short suicide mission. What do you folks think?
The main problem with payload games,is when you are in a stupid team which is easily baited away from the blasted payload, and you are left alone trying to escort it and you get ganked by the other side who have more players on the payload to stop you. Even a D.Va can get screwed over without support despite the speed and damage the character has.
Started playing comp again couple of weeks back after a break for a few weeks.
Quite happy with the season so far hit diamond again which im happy with, soon dropped back to 1950 but overall going well got like 75% win rate with symmetra.
I like the new overwatch league linked to the home page and watching that has been pretty good I like the way they changed the colours round for the viewers.
When I play healer I use mercy so bit disappointed with the mercy nerf seemed a bit harsh but I can see why it's needed.
I agree - Mercy Nerf is a bit harsh.
Team not focusing on the objective is definitely an issue in games, though comp is typically not as bad as qp. I still despair in qp when I ask my team to focus on the objective or change to team comp, and the response I get is that it doesn't matter because it is only qp... I still want to win in qp!!!
The match I was referring to when I was on attack, everyone was playing well, and focused on the objective, but the defense team stuck 2 tanks and a Bastion on the payload, with 2 healers and a good Widow behind, round the first corner inside the castle on Eichenwalde, and we couldn't shift them. By the time I realised the issue, it was too late for me to change and get q (I was playing Soldier). Also, no one else was using comms, so a co-ordinated push was asking too much... good old qp!
Its even happened sometimes in competitive too,but definitely its worse in other modes, especially if everyone concentrates on a Doomfist for example. Its actually an old tactic especially as payload escort missions have been there in older games too. If you are not on the payload you basically have lost the game.
Yeah,a good damage character is important as long as there is support. I found on that map,a good D.Va can actually disrupt them, and break the other sides' defensive posture.
However,Sombrero and Junkrat can be an issue,as they can mitigate the speed of a D.Va and makes them a big target.

I've been watching the OWL games, and find it really interesting to see how they approach games. In particular, how effective teams can be when they dive/wade-in the point as a whole team after getting a 6v5... it makes sense, and it is not a complicated strategy, and we can all see it works... so why can't teams stick together and take the point quickly at our level!?!?!?!? Trickle feeding is a plague that should be easily remedied!
Yeah, a Dva bomb over the payload would have given us an opening... alas!
I find it shocking how often people lose focus on the objective... I was playing Moira recently and I was chased all the way back to spawn by three of the other team... they got me, but it was worth it to peel half their team away from the objective!
Also, I'll correct your last line.. his nerf can't come soon enough IMHO, especially since I never play JR!
What was the Mercy nerf?
