Overwatch

Think im only about 2100 SR. I mainly play as a group of 5 or 6 in ranked and while im not shocking im not great but can handle my own. The problem i have is a lot of the group i play with are mains for 2 maybe 3 characters max and are very consistent.

I on the other hand switch to whatever's needed and can end up spreading my play style between maybe Mei, Dva, Mcree, Soldier, Pharah, Junkrat and Symmetra. I never really focus on 1 and "get good".

I am a reasonable Dva and if i play Symmetra 100% sure multiple golds and a high chance of POTG coming my way but because i tend to switch a lot to counter i never really have high scoring games so it shows in my SR

I think the ranking system needs a bigger bias towards individual play.

There's no way you should drop 700sr when you're getting all the medals but on a losing team with trollers and throwers.

If it was done more on individual play people would still try harder to play well so as not to lose as much sr.

sad sad times - down to 2450 now from last season high of 3200......just seem to constantly get completely trash DPS players - hanzo insta lock and then another dps (widow etc) - yet they kill nothing and have like 40% win rates with dps characters

Why has Moira stopped being effective for you this season? I've been out of touch with the OW tinkerings for a while (been playing Fortnite). Has the meta changed and made her less effective?

I've been playing Moira/Brig/Dva/Junk etc - Moira is still extremely effective but just the dps players I seem to end up with are just dreadful.

The meta has changed a lot this season, moira is still really good although in a lot of matches she is 3rd support along side brigitte where as before it would just be 2 support.

Don't get me wrong, I like that the meta changes as things get tweaked etc. keeps the game interesting...

But in the current kind of meta, where there's just so much armor and healing and sustain that if both teams are running a comp like that the teamfight stops being fun to me... it's just a big blob of 2 teams swinging their maces and hammers and spam spam spam until one person happens to die and then the other team steamroll... No opportunities to flank, or make any kind of strategic plays - it's basically like in cartoons when a brawl breaks out and it's a big swirling dustcloud with arms and legs flying out and you can't even work out who won until it clears...

Competitive DM?

Why did no-one inform me of this? Just jumped in as McCree and won my first game. My DM MMR has dropped a bit, getting put mainly with diamonds now but still battered them all. :D

My recent experience. Played a few comps with the wife, one match had 3 accounts, all low level yet absolutely dominating. We pushed as best we could. But they were something else. Time to truly give up on the comp side of OW I think

OW is on sale right now, so smurf accounts will be everywhere... happened last time it was on sale in Feb.

I would say the Moira is a good pick in the current meta, with tanks more prevalent. I've been frustrated many times when picking Moira and then finding my 5 DPS teammates scatter across the map!

I imagine things are very different across the tiers. I was in a gold match last week (with Andy) and we had a team that looked like a typical NYXL right now, Brig, Mercy, Zen, Rein... can't remember the other 2... then the guy playing Zen declared that we only needed 2 supports and changed to DPS... we lost.

TLDR, some players seem to think Brig is a solo healer despite the OWL meta.

I was just looking in the distribution of players across the SR, and found this site:
https://overwatchtracker.com/insights/skillrating?platform=pc

It appears that the average SR is 2490, so for many of us here we are "average players". Maybe I need to accept that age is impacting my reflexes, but I've been playing computer games all my life and am generally pretty good and regard myself as "above average", and I'm sure the same applies to you guys (otherwise you probably wouldn't be the type to be on this forum)... thoughts? Is SR a real reflection in ability, or is there not much in it between 2000-3000 SR?

There is a massive difference in skill level between a 3000 dps player and 2500.

I think once you start getting towards 3k it's the top 10% of players.

I play a lot and my rank jumps around a lot from season to season so I get to see the difference in skill levels and when you get near 3k the dps players are amazing and team work at 3k is completely different.

Someone like me who get's to 3k+ playing rein, brig, sym, mercy probably not a lot different in skill level from 2500 player, for starters I play on xbox pad so you ain't going to see any amazing skill here.

Once you do start playing at 3k though you do learn a lot more about positioning as everyone is working together.

Thanks Gents - sad times but officially uninstalled OW.

Not sure what more I can do with this game......Another 5 games last night and this morning, 4 golds every game just about - 12k -15k healing plus every game as Brig/Moira/Zen etc - lost all 5, another 120SR gone. Now down to 2200. 1000SR gone in a season and a half.

My average healing per game is 12.5k. I switch up to whatever the comp needs and all 5 games were a total stomping / one sided.

Hazno is ridiculous OP still with his 5 shot arrow burst. Still insta kills with headshots etc.

Back in mid gold is just hell. 3000 plus was much more team focused etc - Mid gold people just running in all the time, no teamwork at all.

Peace out people......

I wouldn't give up just keep playing and grind your way through it.

You will most likely shoot back up just as fast as you fell.

won 2 and lost 13 of my last 15 matches, and won 15 and lost 34 of my last 49 matches.......that's just horrible figures......

That's some slump to get out off.....

My last season was just as bad I started 3050 and fell all the way to 2300. I stopped playing for couple of weeks came back couple of days before the season ended and set my self target of getting back into plat. I finished the season about 2550.

Then started this season 2600 and climbed to 3325.

After terrible last season I just keep playing and had my best season yet.

Im sure if you keep playing and just grind your way through the losses things will turn around and shoot back up.

Although I'm probably around 3-8 over the last few games, the recent ones, even ones we lost, were still very close and entertaining.

Personally I would say just play more arcade modes for some giggles. Me, Stu and Hanzo played a bunch of 3 on 3 elimination last night, I think we went undefeated over 3 or 4 games, really enjoying the teamwork.

According to the link I shared above, 3000 is the top 22%. Top 10% starts at 3500 SR. That said, I still take on board your comments. I think my main query about the difference in players across 2500 to 3000 is that individuals, like yourself and booyaka, play at both these levels depending on how you are doing at a given time. Similarly, my son plays more than I do and has managed to get to mid gold max, but Oversumo reports that he plays several characters at platinum level... is that to be believed?

3v3 was very good fun the other night! I think we communicated and co-ordinated much better in those games than we have in comp matches together!
