Overwatch

Only a few days left but I've managed to climb to 1750sr. I won't get to gold this season but if I place around there next season it should be doable. It seems much easier to climb as a DPS than healer because you're less reliant on the team to work together (although if they don't at all it'll certainly be a loss).

I wonder if his ability is going to be healing, but instead of directly healing his team-mates he'll heal the massive flaws in the broken matchmaking and SR system?

And his ultimate, I wonder if it will be to incorporate better in-game stats and a scoreboard that people have been asking for since launch?

Seriously though it really sucks that 800 people got fired from Blizzard... and Jeff wasn't one of them?!

WOW.

3 losses on the trot last night. 2 because of leavers and 1 because we all (including me) played terribly.

I don't think I've ever had a game where a member of the opposite team has left but it happens to me all the time!

I think it's way too harsh that you get a normal loss in SR due to something which is completely out of your control.

So Baptiste has a pretty interesting skill set. Can't decide if he is anti goats or pro goats at the moment. A lot of speculation he will enable bunker comps with Orisa and Bastion (plus huge damage boost capability with Mercy, Orisa and Baptiste all having damage boost abilities.)

His ult will be very tasty with Bastion and Soldier ults.

He also makes Deadeye much faster as the damage boost allows you to fire it off much quicker and still kill most things.

Loads of new nerfs/buffs on the horizon. Lucio, Zen Zarya nerfed. might actually be the end of GOATs.

Lucio

  • Amp it up: Speed song amped effect reduced from 70% to 50%
  • Wall Ride: Passive movement speed gained while wall riding increased from 20% to 40%.
Mccree

  • Bonus damage ramp from the previous 1.34 change will now begin after 1.5s, down from 2.5.
Reaper

Symmetra

  • Photon Projector: Primary fire damage ramp speed increased by 20%
Zarya

Zenyatta

  • Orb of Destruction: Damage increased from 46 to 48

Some big nerfs there! However, I particularly noted the Mei buff in the last patch as being significant, IMHO, and also counters goats... @imginy is good with Mei and will like that.

I played a few games on PTR last night using Baptiste. He needs team co-ordination to get the most from him, which is never going to happen on PTR, however, he doesn't yet appear as OP as I first thought. Generally speaking you want to stay close to everyone due to his shift ability needing close proximity; and his gun is OK, but you need to remember that you are not another Soldier 76, and focus on healing... I would say his damage output matches Ana with the added impact of head shots (which increases damage output above Ana). We tried running goats once (I was Rein, not Baptiste), but it didn't work out well... everyone decided that he doesn't enable goats, but I think we just executed badly with no one on comms and the team splitting up too much.

His E is nice to counter opposition Q and is very good to use during fight engagement, but you need to really focus on healing and preferably have his shift ability healing ready so everyone doesn't come out the other side with only 40hp. Bottom line is that cooldown management is important to be really good with him. His right click healing is pretty impressive. Unless you have a Genji on the team, I think we are going to see less of Ana. Also worth noting, played against a nano-blade and the first thing he did was kill the immortality field device before slicing up half our team.

Feels like he charges his ult pretty quickly. However, we didn't manage to co-ordinate his ult well (hopefully better in comp), but the other team did normal Junkrat spam onto the point through his amp matrix and did huge damage (the Junk player was pretty good). I think the optimal setup would be to get cover in front of your team with the amp matrix between, so the rest of the team is shooting forward through it and you are shooting healing back through... need to look for map positions where this is viable.
