Overwatch

Played a few games last night before going back to work. Just got home and straight to sleep for me. If anyone wants to add me Ai will be about later Bigmender#2827

I don't see how it is a problem. You earn cases for free, you also earn in game crefits that you can use to buy any cosmetic Item you want. So if there is something u really like the look of, you don't have to wait for Rnjesus. You can save up and get it. No real benifits for spending real money to get cases which is how it should be

Oh no i understand that, its just paying full price for a game to load it up and see prices and stuff in the game menus always feels naff to me. Im sure it will be fine. Rainbow 6 siege was the same imo, made it feel like the game could have been free

Looking forward to getting it probably towards the end of the week

People need to stop moaning about micro transactions its been heading that way for along time i would say 90 % of games now come with either season passes or extra cosmetic stuff you can buy.

There are here to stay theres nothing really you can do about it.

Least with overwatch its nothing that effects the game other than the cosmetics. Its more aimed towards the casual players who dont have time to play as much and open as many boxes but maybe want to pimp out a certain class.

Not only are they here to stay - but a great many people clearly just can't resist throwing down their hard-earned for the chance at an e-peen extension, so why would the developer stop including these type of things? The foolish get to pay for essentially nothing and feel like they're special, the others get to complain a bit and then ignore it and it doesn't affect them...

As somebody above said it allows the developer to justify working on future updates (which will be free for everyone we're told) and generally keep supporting the game. TF2 is the other obvious example (though I think a lot of people feel it eventually went a bit too far with the volume of items in the end...)

I would say people that come out with random percentiles based on opinion often make their views taken less seriously, even if the rest of your post makes a lot of sense :)

When I played WoW players that bought mounts via micro-transactions were never considered as anything special than those without. Now someone who had a final boss mount drop that was earned via a real challenge - that was an e-peen extension.

I find micro-transactions from Blizzard tend to just offer cosmetic value to those who want everything and nothing more.

^^ It's £30 for the standard edition... and well worth it for that - should easily offer more hours of enjoyment than the average ~£50 AAA release does these days (though to some extent that depends on having some people to play it with), and with the promise of extra free content to come as well

Really keen to give Overwatch a spin (didn't play beta). How do you think it will run on my aging rig (specs below)?

  • Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155
  • Sapphire HD 7850 2048MB GDDR5
  • Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB SSD
  • Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Fun game, but I don't get how they justify a full £40 release price. It's 100% multiplayer and has a limited number of game modes...

Like the others said, it isn't £40 it's £30 which tbh is fair for a fully fleshed out multiplayer title in this day and age. Think that most broken multiplayer only Early Access games are £20-30... Or they are heavily carried by microtransactions that lock out gameplay features.

So far Blizzard has said every gameplay element of the game won't cost money (new heros, maps etc) I'm sure that will change with an expansion pack in a year or two time that will cost £9 but for the time being you get a fully fleshed out MP game with a fair amount of maps for £30 and the only microtransations are for cosmetic roles which you must be mad to buy...

I got to level 15 after a long session gonna have a nap now.

The game is very good and very fun.

I find it way more team orinated then most games. Which can be a good thing and bad. It fun when your team comes together for a epic push or last second win but can be frustrating when you keep getting matched with players that dont really play together but usally if thats the case matches are over quickly.

The community seems okay so far only come across a few bitchy players.

Well worth 30 quid and knowing blizzard they will adding stuff and tweaking it

First game earlier, jumped in. First person picks Widowmaker, next picks Widowmaker, next picks Soldier76, then another Soldier76 then a Reaper and me as Mercy :p It's easy to forgive with the amount of new players but man it's irritating when you know you've lost before you've even got out of the starting area.

Yeah I wish they would limit heroes to 1 per team. The only thing I dont like about it game is much more fun with blanced teams
