Overwatch

Trying to like this game to buy it, but it just looks so team fortress... and I didn't enjoy that. Anything that can persuade? Just see footage of things jumping around etc and I think ugh its another COD with the exo suit nonsense.

if you didn't like TF2, I doubt you'd like this. :)

Topically enough considering the above posts... Mei is pretty good against Genji since provided you can aim her freeze gun Genji cannot deflect it and it'll slow him down pretty fast...

Mcree also though it relies on you getting close enough to flash the genji...

Pharah also... can fly up in the air where she is quite difficult to hit with the shurikens and reflecting rockets is also fairly difficult especially when she is in the air...

Winston too... his gun doesn't really need to be aimed so it's reasonably good on fast moving targets... combo with a damage boosting Mercy for fun times

Thanks for the tips. Getting close enough is usually a problem. I'll give Mei a try, she's rather an underrated hero it seems, but in the right hands seems very useful. Dunno if I'm the 'right hands' though, but can try.

Mei is ace, and she can freeze herself when hooked by roadhog to avoid getting blasted.

The wall is obviously very useful for blocking, but place it well and you can separate the enemy team leaving your team to face 1 or 2 people instead of 6.

11 hours played and 10 hours with soldier 76...

I wanted to learn more about the game and the way its played before I switched it up but now if i test out a character i get insta destroyed without getting a chance :/

Indeed... got a friend who plays Mei really well... other useful things include using the ice-wall to lift team-mates onto ledges they'd otherwise not be able to get to... using the self-freeze thing on the point to stop the enemies capping it while your downed team-mates run back to the point... and yeah just generally being a total pain in the butt for many classes to deal with...

I've not put in the time to learn her yet but keep meaning to... very cool character (see what I did thar :p)...

You know who is really good for dealing with Mei's annoying self-freeze heal ability? Mercy! Her pistol does pretty huge damage and you can stand just a little distance away from Mei's ice-capsule (far enough she won't hit you right away) and line up a headshot timed for when it un-freezes... With one guaranteed headshot from Mercy's pistol even if Mei starts sidestepping and coming towards you it only takes a few more glancing hits to take her out...

A good Genji is deadly! However, I'm loving May in capture the point rounds. She is just devastating. Nothing better than freezing people and booping their heads with an ice steak.

Love it :D

This is where the Play against A.I. option comes in quite handy, that's what I've been doing, using a variety of heroes to try and get a feel for them in a real game but without the threat of getting completely raped, set it to medium level and it's good enough for a wee fight but not enough to get mauled.

I agree, hate the character model but can really go to town on smaller more enclosed capture points.

It's funny going 1 on 1 with Genji and just standing there whilst he activates deflect. Then open fire as soon as the animation ends

I will be about tonight for a long session hopefully few of you will be on :)

As for Genji counters he will win most fights one on one just dont shoot at him when hes reflecting and stay in a group. Winston is a good counter cause he can jump him and he cant reflect his gun. Soldier 51 is a good counter too since u can self heal and just shoot him. I would say piggy would be good too if you can hook him and mei if u can get close enough to him.

The other options would be mcree with his stun and his longish range weapon . A good tracer. bastion makes short work of him if you avoid his reflect. And ofc another genji.

While a good genji can be annoying they not really helping the team if they playing on their own so long as you stay in a group they pretty ineffective. Its when you start chasing them or trying to take them on 1on1 they become more useful.

Its something I do as winston I will charge in jump behind them and get people to chase me it splits their group up distracts them and then i pick people off 1on1. and makes it easier for others to either attack or defend.

Where if their team stays together and in a group it doesn't work as well cause they can focus me down pretty quick I think same applies to genji.

Yeah thats probably the best option. I am a little bit in love with Soldier 76's versatility though. Damage output, movement speed and the healing really works well. He seems a bit of an anti-tank DPS and I seem to instantly destroy D.VAs mech suit and is good against reindhart aslong as i can dodge the pin.

Only think I would say needs changing to make him more viable would be to change his ult slightly, maybe with an increased amount of damage etc. Mcree insta kills and so does tracer with that grenade but soldier just seems a bit lacking in the ultimate.

At the moment my career average with him is about 22 kills and 8 deaths which is reasonable.

Why didn't I think of that counter, instead of trying to freeze him and ending up dead after his two shots to my head, three times in a row. N1.

Yeah but then they will just wait for you to unfreeze and blow your head off.... usually the whole team waits like a pack of scavengers!

Aye, especially if the rest of your team is all chasing one Genji who keeps getting behind.
Not sure I believe people saying they can carry a bad team with Mei; is that Mei carrying 1v6 thing with the wall of ice showing at the end of game credits still a thing?

Two quick plays earlier. I keep landing in teams full of muppets - one team had hanzo's, and genjis's. Needless to say I tried every class to try and help. Then I quit, and landed in a team full of black widows. Got frustrated and went to do player vs AI.
