To get those numbers is off the chip it's self yes ?
Well order was late on the Friday 21st as I waiting for the case to come in stock, order placed at 15.19, dispatched at 17.14.... Way to go OcUK !!!

So I could have a monster chip !!!!........****** if I had known I would have bought a better board !!! aahhhhhh........... I really don't NEED to overclock, but now you guys are making it way too tempting and ADDITIVE !!!! LOL
Only started because in single thread apps, it doesn't feel any quicker than my old P4-3.4 !!! ....... So wanted to get to 3.4 ...

Anyway for ref

Some amazing O/C here !!! ................... Just looking at the mobo page for replacement boards!!! .........hate you lot ! ;)

Found it's not Possible to turn off speed step !..... even when you disable in the bios and set a fixed 9 multiplier, it still sits at 6 when idle, according to CPUZ..... :(
The ASUS windows o/c software crash as 2.5 !!! LOL

Yeah I looked up from your earlier post, BUT, no SPDIF socket,..(needs to be bit perfect) so will need Sound card, which I have, but limited PCI sockets. Have TV card and CAM holder plus Sound card, plus will need second LAN card in the future to hook up to LINN type "squeeze box" ...Unless I buy a NAS from the outset.
So I don't think it has the room or the options....shame.
Might have to be the PK5-E wifi popular in this thread !!!!

I see with the information you have provided i think i will start a learning curve with HPTC systems and associated MBs

A nice mother board, would you stream between the HPTC and this board? The wireless feature as well OC as a bonus

Whats the diff between higher multi and higher fsb btw. If you achieve the same clock with lower multi/high fsb and high multi/low fsb does one perform better than the other? which is the preferred and why please?

As I understand it (and this is especially true of data hungry quads) if you achieve the same clock frequency then using a lower multi and higher FSB is preferable to a higher multi and lower FSB in performance terms as there is more data travelling to the processor across the fsb, although this does put more strain on the motherboard. Having said all that I could well be wrong :D

I would say it depends on how tight you can keep your RAM timmings, generally higher FSB will give you more performance but you shouldnt sacrifice running you RAM slower to achieve this.. for example FSB 400 * 9 and RAM @ 4-4-4-12 is going to be better than 450 * 8 and RAM @ 5-5-5-15
