Parent and Child spaces

i shop at the 24hr place outside "core" hours. The parent spaces are always empty then so i use them because they are near the door.

shopping at night is much better than doing it by day.

Remember guys, if you have kids you are a more important person than everyone else :)

Its more that your child is the most important person to you and it can almost feel a slight against you if some ungracious idiot parks in these spaces. Again under the false impression that their car is less likely to be damaged in these spaces.

It will happen, even to you, at some point in your life and you'll know how much of a PITA it is. Not the end of the world granted but you will feel miffed.

It doesnt tell you a lot other than the fact that i do not see the issue with a tattoed parent usually in an estima or other awful child-wagon wearing parent having to park elsewhere if i got there first.

If you did it politely and people moved for you then at least you dealt with it properly. I wrongly assumed that you probably dealt with it in the way i experienced. :)

It tells me you don't care about other people in the slightest, abusing a parking space clearly not designated for you. I find it ironic that you then said you feared the ***** wasn't going to care/respect you (or your property)..

Do unto others and all that, you are hardly better then said ***** IMO (Not equivocal before you over react)

I wouldnt want his respect, or care. I said that i was worried that he would possibly damage my very expensive to repair property if i didnt move, as he appeared to be a total yob.

Causing him to park further away when i got there first and he has no rights to have preference over me in any way is not the same thing at all :p

I'm now confused..

Are you saying that you deliberately parked in a P&C space, with no children on board, and someone with children on-board wanted to park in the designated P&C space?

Yes, i then moved as i was worried that the yob would possibly damage my car, not because i didnt have my keyboard on me that day.

Exactly what part of my posts were not clear?

So this guy had children in his Sprog Wagon? And somehow you can't work out why he 'should' have preference over a designated parking space that he qualifies for, and you don't?

No wonder you ran scared from him with an attitude like that..

Not just selfish but a pussy to boot then :p

Now then, horses and cyclists - should they have right of way on all roads?

Clearly i am, please enlighten me as to why he should park nearer to somewhere given that i was there first?

If he had an issue with me parking there, he should have taken it up with the store and let them resolve the matter with me. It is nothing to do with him, the spaces have no status in any fashion.

I know you like to think the spaces are there purely out of the goodness of the supermarkets hearts, the real reason they are there is one of marketing, not genuine concern for the wellbeing of your children.

It's part of the supermarkets attempts to project a family friendly image - they come across as a really rather lovely firm who are there to make life easier for you, this is a far more effective image than the truth, being that they are a large public limited company there for one reason only - to maximise shareholder value.

That, and not care for you and your lovely kids, is why they squashed up all the other spaces and turned half the carparket over to women in badly parked people carriers.

A pussy when it comes to a massive overgrown yob and me having to potentially leave a car with extremely expensive repair costs unnattended - then sure!

Put the keyboard away matey...

It's also a safety issue, parent with child spaces tend to be closer to the shop entrance, minimising risks to a child from passing cars etc.

If a store decides to use them and you have a problem with that then by all means stop shopping there.

I forgot about the 70mph dual carriageways running through supermarket carparks.

I often wonder how I'm still alive. My Mum used to take me shopping in a Mk2 Escort RS2000 which:

a) Had no fold flat seats or Isofix
b) No rear doors
c) No parent and baby spaces to park it in.

Perhaps parents these days are a bit dumbed down?

Or perhaps, back in the day when you were too young to even notice, she left a few dings in neighbouring cars whilst getting you in and out of your seat?

Plenty of idiots not watching where they are going and driving faster than they should be in car parks.
