Path of Exile 2

Finding gear seems kind of tough and I have like 20 uniques but use none - they all seem... really useless?

Some are, yes, I agree. But others require synergy with a specific skill / build to get the most out of them eg. Cloak of Flame ( to convert physical damage to fire damage ) and play as an Infernalist.

Yea I know some will work well, I'm playing frost and there's a ring that lets you snap on chilled enemies so you don't need to freeze completely, would definitely add a bunch of free damage

I actually have cloak of flame and used it for a long time just cause it seemed tanky, I'd still use it but need the spirit slot

edit: but most of them seem completely useless. Diablo 2 pre-lod uniques were pretty mediocre outside of mages, soj, tarn, frostburns, and maybe a couple others. But LOD uniques were all usefull, even if they were far from BIS. I think I prefer it like that. They should be cool items that are fun to find. Like, Hellslayer Axe. Yea, it's far from great, but if you find it in single-player on a viable character, it's awesome, hits hard, looks cool, most importantly - feels super fun to find. That's how it should be imho, with a smattering of super rare, super good ones

IDK I'm not coming down on the game exactly - but the loot isn't as fun to find as in diablo 2. But we'll see. I found 1k defense armour like 20 minutes ago, it's useless but I didn't know stats went that high, so I'm sure I'm not even seeing any of the potential yet

Yeah, I share the same feelings about loot in this game. By the way, as you say, armour in this game is very under underpowered - Kripp made a great video on this yesterday

I really wish they would remove the map bricking on death, I'm fine with bosses resetting their hp or whatever but when you get ganked by an on death effect that was hidden by the terrain it feels pretty cheap. Also when you have say a Ritual that spawns in a tight spot, its almost impossible to prevent getting cornered unless you can just delete the mobs in 1 go. It doesn't really encourage any other playstyle than overwhelming dps.

I also don't like the fact you have to kill all rares for map completion, with the size of the maps if you miss one its not engaging to have to backtrack through a largely empty space to finish it off.

If they changed these things I'd be much happier.

^^ Yes and half the mobs that are hitting you with ranged are off screen. I'm not finding the game too difficult now, the main problem is getting overwhelmed by upto 20 enemies surrounding me and there's no real counter for that many as aoe stuns don't last long enough

I can see see myself spending many, many hours on this game but after about 70 hours of gametime I think I'll stop for now and wait for some updates.

Mapping is very annoying atm, it's extremely punishing. I can't even sustain Tier 3 maps, dying on a map sucks, I don't have any currency to buy gear and I can't even get my 3rd ascendancy.

I'm very excited about the future of this game though.

Finally got to the end game. My Invoker is lvl 70. Did some maps to tier 5. Ran out of maps. Vendor only has tier 2 maps at the moment. Cant be bothered to farm maps. End game is a little more boring than the campaign. Campaign was great. Will re-visit when all 6 acts are released.

Stuggling in cruel because I can't get any gear to progress. I'm level 52 and still using a level 32 quarterstaff because I've found nothing better. Now I'm in cruel I'm not doing enough dps to kill bosses fast enough. I refuse to use trade sites because that's not playing the game it's buying progress.

I take it you're not using SSF ? If you don't plan on trading that's probably the best mode to play in. But there is still an issue with poor itemisation / low drop rates for high quality gear, which can really impact gameplay if you're unlucky with drops.

GGG wants you using vendors for upgrades, and crafting on bases as much as possible. I was in the same boat a couple of times until I grinded out another level and checked vendors / crafted on drops.

Still, on the rng bell curve there's gonna be someone that gets terrible luck.

I have been using the below QuarterStaff from level 28 to 65 (had a better drop) with no problems. Ice strike destroys everything. If you are interested you can have it I don't need it any more

The market is developed enough now that buying levelling items is probably much more cost efficient than trying to craft something yourself, especially if you're struggling along with only a couple of exalts at a time. Might as well just take advantage of trade if you're opted in and speed things up rather than struggling along.

thanks but that is pretty much the same as the one I'm using, so I must just be a crap player then lol

Have bought this and played on it for a bit coop with a friend, like the graphics and animations playing with warrior at the moment. what classes are you all playing as and what do you find is decent DPS?

Warrior is perhaps the most challenging/broken class to play at the moment. I've played Monk, Sorceror and Ranger ... with the first of those being my favourite thus far. I'm waiting for more updates before / game re-design before jumping back in.

Warrior is a bit on the weak side, the strongest melee class is Monk which I'm currently enjoying very much. In general ranged classes are much better though.

will probably play monk as my solo character and keep playing warrior as coop, always like melee characters though but I might try a ranged character too. What do you reckon is the strongest or easiest to play as solo?
