Path of Exile 2

Have jumped in with the crossbow Merc and already dislike having to load ammo then fire as two actions. Don't like the flow, so think I ought to reroll.

Sad there are no damage AoEs (righteous fire) yet but it's early days and I guess that style doesn't easily fit well with the way they have gone with it.

Game early access play first week.
Its really horrible bad.
Gameplay loop is tedious.

poe2 looks amazing, performance is amazing, sound is amazing.
Gameplay is the worst one I had in a game in 40 years.

Dodge/roll mechanics means tedious press buttons.
slow movement skill means tedious backtracking in maps

In essence, I want to play the game but I wont due to the tedious gameplay.
poe1 does it right and then the devs thought they could make a better game and actually made a worse one.

Streamers made a fun gameplay build, nerfed to the ground.
same streamer made another fun gameplay build, nerfed.
he made a third one also, nerfed.

simply GGG devs dont want people to have fun

My crashing gets worse with every patch they release despite being fully stable for the first 4 days. Almost unplayable now. I now get 45 minutes tops before a hard comp lock up
Set the CPU usage in power management to 99% and in affinity CPU remove 2 cores so you don’t have hard crash . This somehow mitigated my crashes .

Onto the Dreadnought and ****** through that bit, then came up against Jamanra. Slapped again with little counter....haha. Balance at times does seem a little whacky.

So, been playing a bit more over the weekend.

Lvl 66 on my Sorc now, about to wrap up Act III on cruel. Have to say, I have had a pretty good time overall, considering the game is still in it's infancy. Really love how the game start, the first few zones of Act I are by far my favourite. It does go downhill afterwards but that's quite subjective, I always liked that kind of setting, dark and almost medieval. Act I also had great pacing, I feel like Acts II and III drag a bit.

My Sorc is a Spark sorc, absolutely slaps. Wiping entire screens and deleting bosses in seconds. Have to say, cruel has been easier than normal, mainly because by the time you get to cruel, your build is somewhat put together and things start to synergise and ramp up.

Will finish the final boss tomorrow after work and then I'll dabble in maps. From what I'm hearing, mapping is a bit meh so we'll see.

Regarding difficulty, the game is not as hard as what people make it out to be, could be gear / build dependant, it's definitely not my skill because even though I love ARPGs, I'm not all that good at games. The game is not easy but if you keep up with gear as you level you'll be fine and 90% of the bosses will be a one shot. In cruel I normally kill all bosses within 10 seconds, some within a couple of seconds.

I can't wait to see how games develop. 3 more acts to come, plenty of balancing and patching to come but as it stands, really really enjoyed this.

I was cruising on my Grenadier Gemling until maps, make sure you have resistances capped. I died few times in t1 maps . Overall the games is great, slower than POE1 but needs a bit of work .

I made it to level 12 witch with 2 skeletons and an arsonist and no minions (at least not on purpose) before realising the Unearth skill adds minions from dead mobs.

Game: *highlights green mobs I've just killed.
Me: Cool graphics *moves on to next mob

SMH

e: absolutely zero crashes or any other problems either in game or logging in.

I've been playing a mercenary and the mechanics at present just feel like dodge loads and fire whenever you can.
I'm honestly not that impressed by either the gameplay or the loot. Maybe I need to give it some more time.
Although I did watch a video earlier of someone spending over 1m gold gambling for belts and none of them were better than his current one. Which seems pretty depressing.

A lot of poe1 players say they hate the dodge mechanics and I can kind of see why, I've seen videos of boss fights were you will get 1 shot killed by the boss and the only to not die is to roll around the map like dark souls for 10 minutes straight

Poe2 =

I actually discovered last night that there is no need at all to fight any trash mobs. You can continually dodge roll all your way between bosses or waypoints and not take an ounce of damage. Funny seeing 100 or so mobs chasing after you that eventually give up. Boring as hell, but makes the game quicker and easier. XP won't be good though.

Surprised thay haven't put a stamina mechanic into the game to prevent repeated dodge rolling, after say 5 dodges.

The problem with putting that in, is that pretty much everyone would die to all the bosses, since constant dodging is basically required.

Another day another beating from a boss, this time that bloomin’ Chimera

Tried upgrading my gear a little and even cheesing the fight (stairs at the back are a little semi-safe haven), but the combination of ice slowing me down, poison floor, fire damage and the inability to roll away = dead several times. Had to stop and leave it for another day.

Very recurring theme

Once you get above about 25%~ movement speed, dodge actually feels pointless. The animation takes longer for you to roll and stand up than it does to simply just move naturally. The only good thing dodge does is help cancel animations - which isn't really a "good" thing either, as it glosses over badly implemented/designed animations.

You've probably noticed, but just in case, if you wait until he lands on one of the pillars, you can smash it and stun him for quite a while. But aye, his multiple overlapping ground affects are a pain.

A few PoE streamers have mentioned that they believe that dodge is only partially implemented and that its supposed to have more mechanics to it which are yet to be added, it does feel that way what with it being such a major design in the combat, it does feel like this isnt the final design of the dodge system.

yeah dodge roll is just the "oh crap" button, to immediately get cover space for stuff like big slams, etc. otherwise keep moving normally while attacking.
