Path of Exile 2

they were both from the same page. In either case, as I mentioned, I am going to wait and get in, then he can have it :D

"Claim Key" is yours. The MTWHF-xxx is what you need to give to your mate.

Is it worth buying an EA key for £23? Could be in EA for a year or more, especially if they are selling keys as there's little incentive to make it f2p

I think it just depends on how much you want to play it now and experience a good chunk of the game, rather than wait for the full release and get the complete experience. I don't think there's any harm for anybody on the fence to just sit it out for a short time to see what the first impressions are from the more experienced players/content creators are, no doubt they will be blasting through it within the week and sharing feedback in no time. Plus with the amount of players that could be arriving there could very well be connection/server issues at the beginning.

You do get 300 points to spend as well, you are essentially just buying some currency and getting a free key with it.

Seems EA will be 6 - 12 months. Good point about the included currency, so yes I guess EA is worth buying

Never really got into PoE, I’ve been more a Diablo player but a lot of the PoE2 content looks really good…..and there’s so much of it. Is the first PoE worth picking up and playing through the campaign, endgame content?

Only if you follow a build guide to the letter. If you go in blind the chances that you will bounce off it hard are quite high.

And following a build guide that advises on what to spec at each level is best, and is helped by using PoB, Path of Building. It's captures the template of the passive tree, the items, the gems you use at each stage of your levelling.

I'm looking forward to trying this out, I think I will use a controller, it's such a shame that mixed controller mouse/keyboard isn't available at launch. I do think first night I'll be using the M&K as I want to easily look throughout the passive tree.

Very much so, no reason not to play the original it's FTP, and you'll know whether it's for you well before you need to spend on stash tabs, and you will need buy stash tabs to play the end game enjoyably.

Have to say I only tried POE 1 last month and found it very difficult and unforgiving playing solo. Gave up after a few hours, although I've read POE 2 is easier. Dunno maybe I was doing something wrong or on a wrong server or something

It's almost impenetrable as a new player without following some kind of guide. There are many starter builds listed out on the internet, and some have comprehensive notes on the levelling experience as well. I'd highly recommend doing that and not trying to understand every league mechanic at once. Once you get going with it I'd argue its the most complete arpg out there.

As above, seek out a league start build guide for something that isn't complicated and just take it in baby steps, focus on beating the campaign and then see where you go from there. You gain so much knowledge and experience just running through the story the first time, once you have a basic understanding down it's surprising how much easier it is and how much quicker you can do it the next time.

The main beginner trap is the inability to respec your character effectively during the campaign, if you aren't following some sort of guide, or already understand the game enough to know what you need, you can quickly waste points on the tree only to find later on when things aren't working out that the cost to respec is very high. You really do need to have an idea set out of what build you are going for beforehand otherwise it can get very punishing, very quickly.

The good news is it looks like they have addressed this in POE2, orbs of regret in POE1 which grant respec points are hard to come by during the campaign, POE2 will use gold to respec points instead, it should be much more accessible on that front.

Thoughts? Some folks getting really angry over him calling for a mined db. They want everyone to experience the game at the same pace as them...
If you don't have enough willpower to ignore it then that's on you. It'll happen sooner or later.
they probably won't, but the problems will be all the random / accidental stuff you stumble across on X/discord/ect.
unless you go on a complete internet blackout till next week. :p

i've seen quite a bit already, but really trying to avoid skills / bosses leaks.

That knob Fextralife posted his review early then bombed it down

I watched it before it came down

He said th campaign is 35hrs long, said it's a hard game like dark souls, said the maps are too big and said the game is easier to play with a controller than mouse

TLDW on the vid. A lot of praise, especially the last one

-Campaign about 35-40 hours
-"Dark Souls of ARGPs" another reviewer thought the same thing
-No difficulty options
-No easy game
-Lots of challenging boss fights
-Feels so rewarding to beat them
-Dark Souls and Elden Ring feeling
-Maps are astronomically large (1 h from side to side)
-Maps feel a little bit empty in terms of events
-Scratched the tiniest surface of the game after 40 hours
-Great sense of discovery (mechanics, builds and lore)
-Feels like 3 games into one
-Almost limitless combinations of builds
-Lot easier to respec your skills-50-100 changes was no problem
-Outstanding dark theme art direction
-Clearly inspired by Diablo 2
-Details on skill effects and boss designs are the best in the industry in the ARPG genre
-Blown away by the amount of detail
-Most dynamic combat in an ARPG
-Switch to controller was a revelation
-Feels like a game that was designed for controller first
-Plays even better than Diablo 4 with a controller
-Potential to be the alltime king of the genre
-Some bugs and crashes occurred
-Strong believe that the developers will join the annals of greatness alongside Larian Studios and FromSoftware

And if you dare... skills builder https://poe2skills.com/

According to GGG it was their mistake, not Fextra's for allowing that review to go out early.

Overall he was very praise-worthy of it, but as always people should do their own due diligence with reviews and then make up their own mind.
