Path of Exile(diablo clone)

And that's a good thing, were it a game the played by the masses it would have no doubt been ruined years ago.
The game is too complicated for most, I tried to get 6 of my friends to play it many moons ago and they just got confused right away about gems and gear and gave up in act 1!

Now they just tell me the game sucks, there loss I guess

Edit - I got a closed beta survey today for poe2

I think they put the rhoa's in early to sort the wheat from the chaff!

I haven't applied for POE2, i'm happy to wait until it comes out and play it so I can play it fresh.

Enjoying this league so far, normally I don't gel with the micromanage style ones but this is better than all the previous ones for me. The currency exchange is a bit wonky at times, but it's a massive improvement overall.

The build is definitely squishier than before with all the changes, but some of the gear that became out of reach early on last league seems much more affordable, it may still come good yet.

Got the survey as well, would be cool to get in and give it a go.

Im loving the league, even the quant nerf.
I like that its taking everyone longer to make currency as im able to keep up with the market which is nice.

Is there a guild for OCs?

I wish they would offer some mechanic to level up to end game without having to repeat the campaign every league, it gets a bit boring doing it repeatedly

There are, it's called twink uniques and getting good. Takes me around 2-3 hours to reach a10 kitava on a fresh toon.

But I plan and gather everything I need so there are no interruptions or distractions.

So your solution to not having to run the campaign is to run the campaign, just a little faster ?

Have you played D4? Do you skip the campaign in that game, how long does it take you to reach level 70-80 before your build starts to be playable?

If taking 2-3 hours to do the campaign is too long for you, do you really think GGG would add in a system that let you reach level 68 in less time than a speed runner? Of course not.

For me the leveling process is when you get to "vet" your build and see if it works. Nothing would be worse than getting to 70-80 after hours of grinding only to discover your build doesn't work or you don't like it.

I used to hate it. Now i just look at it like a series of connected atlas maps. Which is exactly what they are, with the added requirement to take some specific routes. I actually like doing campaign now. Except Act 1 on a new class. I always get wrecked from the change in play style.

I assumed he was talking about first run of a league.

It can be a bit of a slog at league start depending on how effective your build is in the early levels, but once you know the game certain bosses/areas become a good measuring stick for how well you are coming along. It's also just become part of the experience for me at this point, jump in on the Friday night try and get to act 3-4, then aim to complete the next night or sometime Sunday ready to start mapping in the week, I'll know how well I've done by how quickly I get there and how smooth it felt.

I tried D4 again a couple of weeks back and made a seasonal character, it was honestly quite boring. The sense of progression is lost as it just becomes a rush to get to certain level milestones as quickly as possible so that you can start to gear for a build. By the time I got to 100 and levelled the up the glyphs I'd already seen everything I needed to and was done. Even back with D3, if you didn't get a boost from somebody it just became a long boring slog doing rifts until you got to 70, where you could then start to gear properly to do more rifts :D

I even think back to the older style games (including the early days of POE) where you go through difficulty levels, repeating the same campaign 2 or 3 times before you see the real endgame, sometimes even build defining items, those were the real slog.

started a jugg and a strengthstacker
pretty painful for a few days but now, blasting fun.

Economy this league has completely flipped for me on the build I'm playing. Last time around the +2 wands were relatively cheap and it was the forbidden jewels and uul netol's vow amulet that were costing 50 Div a piece. This time the amulet cost me 9 Div, the jewels were about 80c each but the wands are now 35+ Div each.

depends so much on crafting and build power
I put 400 divs into mine atm
(dropped a mirror helped)

If this was during necropolis.
+2 Wands was a fairly easy craft (assuming you didnt mind all the corpses )

So it kinda makes sense that the gear now is expensive.
Also, its still relatively early in the league, so things will balance out as more and more gear is crafted.

Whereas, because its early in the league, the jewels and whatnot

Pretty much done with the league now, I did what I usually do where the moment I get the final piece to complete a build to a good level I lose interest. I'd started another build trying to make an autobomber but I can tell my interest isn't there to finish it off, I might come back in a few weeks if I get the itch.

Blight got to the point of printing money for me, just throw the maps in and sit there AFK, the oil prices have been pretty high so selling the excess from those alone was a nice steady stream of currency. I think the auction house has been a resounding success for me, being able to cut out all the long winded trades for all the extra scarabs, essences, fragments and what not has been a god send. For once things don't feel out of reach to save for, I still don't have anything more than a basic understanding of the crafting stuff so I never get any currency from that avenue, but being able to just offload stuff at a moments notice kind of opens your eyes to how much you actually make just running maps.

The league mechanic was pretty good as well, it seemed to be pretty consistent handing out decent rewards by the time you have everything levelled up.

I still enjoyed the minions, it felt a bit harder to get some defence in there this time around with the aura change, I think I might switch it up slightly and go pure spectres or golems next time to mix it up a bit.
