Path of Exile(diablo clone)

Liking this a lot! However, I'm pants haha. Often getting lost, the maps are pretty open and no waypoints is a bit of a nightmare!

Can't even understand the minimap or the normal map.

There are waypoints - there's one in the southern area of Lioneye's Watch and one in the Mud Flats plus other further along.

Just bought more tabs! At least supporting this great great company. This game is so damn addictive. Got a lvl 37 ranger on hardcore league. A bit baffled that it's not more popular in ocuk. Infinitely better than d3.

I have to agree, I feel this is what D3 should have been.
I'm barely into the 3rd part of the first act and I am really enjoying it.

The skill grid system looks daunting but also gives you the ability to truly make a unique character.

Currently running around with my little Duelist.

The graphics are perfectly fine, I thought they looked dodgy in some screenshots before I played the game but they're actually very good. Definitely on par with Diablo 3 (just a slightly different style).

unfortunately d3 is build on a completely flawed system nice graphics or not. Poe is a lot of fun and honestly it a nice change from d3 broken mechanics. If u wana base ur opinions on videos thats up 2 u but its a lot more fun exploring it urself, its free after all :)

The graphics actually feel a lot more realistic/gory and in-line with the style of the first 2 diablo games than D3. The prison atmosphere with it's subtle trails of blood and guts leading the way to the boss brought back the old fear of the Butcher!

Then renewed it when the first proper boss turned out to basically be the Butcher :p

Started playing last night and squeezed a couple of hours in and I must say I'm impressed, but what are the main stand out differences between this and D3? I have asked in-game, but get torn a new one for mentioning D3 :D

D3 is a dumbed down version, there is a lot more depth to PoE. Also, PoE doesn't revolve around a real money auction house like D3.

It's tough to ask because there's a lot of people displaying (partly justified) butthurt out there over D3, and just as many (partly justified) pro-D3 anti-PoE loyallists.

Basically, try PoE and try the D3 demo and see which you like more - D3 has more lockdown on skills, and provides a more 'structured' levelling system, PoE is more freeform. D3 has an auction house that optionally uses real money but a lot of people seem to think that the drop rates for rare items have been set so that it's impractically hard to reach 'end game' gear without grinding/buying cash.

In terms of graphics/sound/feel, I know people that will state a strong preference for D3, and people who will tell you D3 is lackluster and PoE is the be-all-and-end-all. I still love Titan Quest, so I'm not even getting into this one, suffice it to say both are fine as far as I'm concerned.

If you're like the guy from page 15 of this thread who feels personally offended whenever a game doesn't max out his hardware and fellate his optic nerves, you'll probably find both a bit of a disappointment - ARPG's always tend to be functional, graphically, especially with hardcore modes. Too flashy very often = too easy to die because you can't see what's going on.

You know what, I think I'll play something else ;)

lvl 15 and loving so far even though it's a little bit complicated compared to D3.

edit: are characters going to be wiped from open beta?
