Path of Exile(diablo clone)

Caught the bug again.

Couldn't see these invasion/ambush leagues you guys are talking about though...

I'll stick with Standard for a while, don't have the time to lose if I die in HC again!

I've recently ventured back onto this after having played it during the early beta period and it's looking quite decent now!

Quick question though if anyone can help:

Is there any way to tell at a glance whether a particular item is "better" than you already have? (like in D3 for example, you get a percentage in either green or red telling you the benefits!)

Thanks...

Best you can do is hold down alt while hovering over the item in your inventory, and it shows you what you currently have equiped so you can see them side-by-side.

Just started this up again for the first time in a few months. The new Vaal stuff adds some fun variation. Started a split arrow ranger (yawn) then a dual searing bond templar which is pretty funny... Just run around looting add everything around you burns to death.

My Ambush Puncture/Barrage/RoA ranger who also uses projectile weakness, Vaal Summon Skeletons and Vaal Fire Arrow has just offed Piety (normal) and working its way through the gardens/hedge maze/scepter of god.

As you might notice, I'm having trouble choosing skills :D

So far I've found a Quill Rain (after levelling past the point it would help), facebreakers (ready for a new build) and a searing touch (one socket...).

I might have a couple of items hanging around in invasion, I'll try and take a peek on Sunday and see if there's anything you might need.

6 socket quill rain cast on crit crazyness :)

I'm only in my 30s so I doubt it's 6 link-able sadly. Otherwise EK here we come.

Edit: I've reached Cruel (for the first time ever) with my Ranger, who has just accidentally plunged Act 2 into darkness, then made a deal with Oak for +% physical damage :D

I broke my self-found rule as I still had a bow from my early 20s when I hit 40 - I needed something with both +%phys damage and + flat phys damage to replace it, and even using the +%ph recipe meant getting a blue and having to try and add flat damage to it, or losing out overall. In the end I paid 1 chaos for a Death's Harp (adds an extra arrow, yay) and am back on track. As a side effect, the increased damage output makes my mana leech more effective and makes it overall easier to manage the build.

Just recently started to give PoE a try and it's quite nice I'll admit. I ran a Minion-based Templar through as far as halfway along Merciless .

Anyone got pointers for a nice melee Scion 1h/shield build? I feel like starting again and want to avoid making very expensive skill tree mistakes this time. Most of the builds I find are based on the old skill tree.

Searching for "Scion, 1h shield, 1.1" is worth a go, as 1.1 was the patch with the new tree. Other than that, the official forums are pretty good generally.

From memory, double strike-melee splash is ok, as is elemental hit. Dominating blow can be fun.

Reeep - What level mate - I do not have much gear but if I can help I will.

Na, its all good.
We were doing Oak hp reward, and some joker pulled the nearby invasion ( the fire breathing Goat) into the camp. Game desynced and I ripped...

So, I uninstalled in a fit of man rage..then decided to reinstall without Steam . Suddenly, my consistent bouts of desync has all but disappeared.
(i worry more and more about using steam)

My EK shadow is levelling well. My unique drops have been pretty awesome last few days. Last night I had 3 uniques drop within 15mins. My party rage disbanded and called me hacker! ( Shodan?)

Dominus tonight, then on to cruel.

How is the game in parties?

I've partied up literally only to buy/sell, and only then on perhaps 3 occasions ever.

I'm always put off public ones because I tend to run a make-it-up-as-you-go type build and worry that in a group I'll be dragging them down and cop a load of abuse.

Main things to watch for parties:

Areas scale up when you are in a party. Generally, most players have various setups, I never had anyone rage at me...it's not like league of legends.

Things to watch for:
Members, running off solo, defeating enemies, and not notifying you of drops, currency etc..

Members pulling too many mobs onto party, can result in a rip.

In my experience, those are the main things.

Use parties to get through areas and grab WP 's
Allows you to skip swathes of legwork and shorten levelling time.
In party you can take on those harder Invasion bosses, and corrupted sites with ease.

Also, try to party with similar level members, if your a level 30 and a level 70 parties up, don't waste your time unless he is gonna run for you.

At Hillock , first encounter I get an Invasder ( Totem Spammer Like in Ledge).. I Kill it and it drops a 6l Tabula rasa ;)

...and I ripped, in cruel..sigh!
I always forget to sort my resists out ...:)

I think I'll sell the tabula , the currency return is worth it.
