Path of Exile(diablo clone)

Look out for items that drop with linked red/blue/green sockets - these vendor for a chromatic orb.

Also, check the vendors every time you level up (that's when they change their stock) - it's not unusual to find 2 or 3 RBG linked items at the vendor for cheap prices to stock up on chromatics.

I quite often have 2-3 stacks of chromatics in my stash by the time I'm midway through cruel just from keeping an eye out for these items.

Thanks for the chromatic orb tip, working well and have half a dozen stashed away now.

Most of the way trough act one on cruel and started getting items with chaos resist stats on, what are they for and when should I be stacking what cap am I looking for?

Chaos damage I believe is just pure damage, it goes through energy shield and removes life. The resist is rarer to come by and is kinda just a bonus on items, you shouldn't really be looking to cap it. Just focus on your cold/fire/light res.

Yep, it's another elemental type but ignores energy shield (making it dangerous for low life high ES builds).

Flavour wise it's usually seen as a 'poison' type effect with green fx. For most players it can take second place to the main 3 resists. Note that in merciless you start with minus 60% all resists, so you'll really notice if you're under protected!

Started playing this again last week. Not been on for months. So much new stuff :D

Bit late to the party for Rampage since it ends on the 20th but I jumped in anyway. Going for Phys Crit Bow Ranger. Working my way through Act 2 Cruel atm (around level 49).

Aiming to full clear everything I've not done already as I go through Cruel. Finished Act 1, got about half Act 2 done, up to around 40 zones now. I'm gonna suffer badly if I ever replace my helmet. Was given the unique cap (or something) with 33% all res on it. Without that I'm screwed :p

It's pretty good tbh, I used mine until like 79 when I crafted a really nice one, its not that bad especially considering mine had a 4L and +1 to gems on it.

Corrupted?

Mine has a single gem socket, not check the ilvl but not sure I wanna spend the jewellers. Might have to check out the shop.

I forgot about the Deaths Harp until yesterday too >< Had a quick look on poe.trade and PM'd someone selling a 4l one with decent stats, got it for 1 chaos. Wish I'd remembered 15 levels before, would've made things so much easier! Bumped my crit chance up to around 27% and Barrage fires 5 shots @ ~450dps each. Love it when Barrage crits, it just sounds painful :p Though I do love it when Puncture crits too... the health degen is insane.

I've been playing my latest character (Shadow using Arc and Herald of Thunder) as a speed character - 3 of my 5 potions are quicksilver (run speed) pots. I just run past everything until I get to a big pack or a blue (magic) mob pack, then throw down traps and start arcing. As soon as they are dead, pop a QS pot and back to running.

I just killed Piety in act 3 cruel. I estimate it's taken about as long as it would usually take me to reach her in act 3 normal. It's insane. All those guides I read about using QS pots and I just ignored thinking "10% move speed on boots is enough"...

Total game changer for me, and very fun new way to play, though it goes against my natural full-clear-open-every-chest-break-every-pot style of play.

Edit - was about to offer you a Doomfletch, but Death's Harp will do for you nicely, and I realised my DF is on Standard.

Yeah. Probably worth 4 Linking it, pretty easy now with the crafters, only takes I believe 4 fusings and 2 jewsellers.

Interesting change of playstyle.

And that is actually the bow I upgraded from ^^ The community attitude towards uniques seems to have changed considerably :p I was gifted a bunch at low level by someone, then when I was level 32 I linked my white +29 dex amulet and said "I should probably upgrade that at lvl32..." and someone offered to give me a Karui Ward.

Really? The one thing I'm not very clued up on in this new build is the Masters and crafting.

started playing this again a few weeks ago and now I have a dilemma. bought a pledge of hands for 7ex. managed to 5-link it last night. not sure if I should wait for a 6-link instead or use it now :(

Started a few weeks ago and already buying 7 ex items... Really, really lucky or lots of time for gaming?

As for use or not - are you using something else with 6 links? If not, why not use it now?

Unless you have a few hundred fusings at hand, I wouldn't bother yet. The chance to 6 link is like 1/800 :)

i know, but i already managed to 6-link 5 or 6 items :p

In the nicest possible way, I hate you :D

Been playing for a couple of years, never had a 6-link drop, never managed to fuse more than a 5-link (though I've only tried on-and-off, never really had a build that required one).

How did you get up to speed so fast? Did you read up about the game beforehand/watch vids, or are you just naturally gifted?

The only luck I've had with RNGesus has been in finding generous people in chat to donate me free low level items ><

Finished Act 2 Cruel yesterday, cleared everything except for Wetlands (because I need to kill Oak and I'm not doing that till Merciless). Moved up to the Battlefield in Act 3. Got 12 or 13 zones left to do now.

Not looking forward to Merciless. My elemental resistances are shall we say, lacking.

Why aren't you killing Oak til merciless?

You get a new set of bandits for each difficulty.

Or do you mean, you're not going to try and kill Cruel Oak until you're geared and levelled enough for Merciless?
