Path of Exile(diablo clone)

There are loads, but I think one of the best ones is "your first character will probably fail" - whilst that sounds negative, what I mean is that you will play dozens of characters over the course of enjoying this game, so don't sweat trying to make a 'perfect' one first time.

Also, play hardcore.
 
i started with a range character first so i can get used to the game and keep my distance :)

can you join clans etc in the game or is this not possible?
 
I was thinking someone coming from Diablo would be more likely to enjoy the hardcore aspect but you're right - it's not for everyone. The short leagues are indeed an excellent place to start - nobody has more than a few weeks of gear built up, so you don't have the issue of super-hoarders having unapproachably good gear.
 
No plans to play 2.6 - Though I still hold onto hope that 3.0 improves on what we have seen recently, been a real let down since 2.0 so hopefully a return to form.
 
For a new player I'd recommend a tank. I went shield warrior (or whatever the class is called) and with damage reflect, lifesteal on kill you can almost stand still and walk content.

Boss fights are tougher as your damage output is lower but they just take longer as opposed to being difficult.

Just out of interest, what do you feel has been wrong since 2.0?? Not trying to be argumentative, I am genuinely curious!? For me it has been better than ever! :)

saying that, ggg need to fix the clear speed meta. game is too fast right now and mobs aren't dangerous enough except volatiles.
 
Who's ready for tonight then? I have my flameblast totem build all planned out ready to blast through to mapping quickly for some initial currency and then i'll switch to another build that i'll invest more into :) cant wait to get started! Last time we have to run cruel and Merc difficulty hype!
 
I am ready but still undecided at this late point what I am going to start with. Still copying others builds because I suck at making my own! (I'm basically getting their base of a build then tweaking it how I like it)

Mathil posted a few interesting starter builds earlier on Youtube. Two of which I found interesting and am thinking maybe Ice crash which is in a similar vein to Earthquake builds from previous leagues or Shock nova.

85 on my pizzasticks dude. Really not had much drop yet though this league which is a shame. i'm finding league stones great too, even if i do load up really hard mods when trying to push the atlas :) most of my deaths (playing softcore) have been to 1 shots from beyond mobs + breach + another combo hehe!

I had to work away for the first week of league so playtime was limited but im getting a steady flow of t7 to 9 maps now (about 45 on atlas). Ill keep pluggin away until I can get into red maps then I think i'll be sorted. The build works well though for a league starter, that's for sure. I just need the currency to start coming in now so I can start my next build.
