Path of Exile(diablo clone)

You have done a lot better than me, though I too have not played as much as I would have liked. I'm still only 77! Struggling to get the right gear. Got Merc lab finished last night which is useful, hopefully will give me a boost.

Playing Mathils ice crash slayer build finding it a lot of fun, only thing I'm struggling with a bit is armour, big hitters hurt, but it destroys everything fast.

Oh my word - playing the "pizza sticks" style spell totem build. Ran it with firestorm until I got some decent cast speed then swapped to Flameblast.

I'm playing softcore solo self-found in the Legacy league. In legacy, loot is absurdly plentiful. I'm draped in (un-usable by my build) uniques - I got three in a single session the other day.

I have also found my first EVER Exalted orb (~350h on steam, more on standalone). It's lovely.

Yup, having great fun this league, though I am not having as much luck with loot. Struggled to find some bits I needed but a good old grind sorted that heh.
Have just built my 2nd character now as Pizza was just a starter! An 'Ice Whispering Tri curse Witch' and she kicks serious butt!! . Just need a couple more rares to finish the build off and I reckon it will munch through all content.

Char name is dirtyTRIfreak if anyone wants to say hi! :)

I've just started playing as a ranger in the legacy league, I'm looking at some kind of split arrow build I think but I've never played PoE to a high level so have no idea what I'm doing.

Hey all, just wondering if this is worth getting into right now? aka is there a lot of DLC I would need to get to catch up on and also having never even tried this is there a steep learning curve?

Its completely free to play, no dlc or other rubbish, the only thing you really need to buy if anything at all is some inventory tabs, as the stash gets full pretty quick. As for the learning curve its not that bad, as your just starting I would advise having a look at some builds on the poe forums classes section, see if you can find something you like there & follow it just while you get started out.

Basic rule of thumb is always cap resists 1st, get as much hp as possible (unless es build) damage means nothing if you cant survive in this game.

@Aya - not kept up with ranger stuff lately, but iirc when I did split it was a crit build.

The other starter tip I tend to give is this: Don't get too attached to a character - PoE is a game where you end up playing dozens of characters for different reasons - if one gets 'stuck' and can't progress, it doesn't mean you've failed, it just means you've got a golden opportunity to try another class for a bit!

I suspect it takes a while to grasp this game with the scope of the passive tree and the almost limitless options for builds?
once you've figured out the passive tree, then you'll know there isn't that many different builds.
a lot of builds use the same skeleton so to say but change a few clusters around.

How are people doing in the league? Having a rubbish time here. No exalted drops, only 1 divine, I'm having lots of issues getting enough scouring for general use as well. Had no drops worth over 10c :/

Dear god, how much do you play that "no exalt drops" is a rubbish time in a league?

I've been having a good time, but play SSF so tradeable drops aren't that big of a deal - I'm usually more interested in a build-around that could be part of a new character.

SSF here too, only 1 ex so far, but been lucky with uniques for my build, got all apart from the weapon I want ( i have a decent alternative), not great rolls on them, but never got all uniques so easily.

It's not "no exalt drops", it's no exalted, only 1 divine, and rarely anything I can sell. The league has been going for a month now, even if you only play 4-5 hours a week it gets a bit difficult to fund builds and move into end-game maps when you can't buy much.

Ah, fair enough, that makes more sense.

What leaguestones do you find the best so far?

Check you're using the closest server (not accidentally set to USA or something).
Also try going into options and checking/unchecking "Lockstep" and see if that helps. I find it's best for me with Lockstep enabled.
