Bought a couple of items and sorted my CWDT on my ranger now much much better.
Hopefully finish the story tonight and start trying some mapping.

Yup, either frostblades or Spectral throw Raiders are good choices. Frostblades possibly better for a first char of the season...
Hmm can't find the third anywhere, is it a drop or hidden?
Wooo got the Righteous Fire build going. Laughable how easy content is with that build 
Only 36 so my life and regen make it a little harder to run than it looks (need to use potions to keep topped up) but as I level and activate more nodes it will only get even easier.

New Bestiary league starts this Friday 2nd March, anyone planning to give it a go?
The game continues to draw me in at the start of each new league before the map grind hits into me. I like to play SSF so its partly my own fault as im not using trade to make life easier but the game is continually impressive with its content updates.

Started Friday, quit last night. Unfortunately it's not particularly engaging, despite the crafting aspect being cool. A disappointing one, hopefully 3.3 will be better.
The new skills they added are pretty bad, too. On the other hand, the Ascendancy changes are very well done, so that's something to enjoy, but I think for the time being I can do without playing.

The best thing to do is to make your own first char and learn that way. Though as you have already discovered, easier said than done. Although it would be a slower start, you would benefit massively from making and failing chars to start with. I didn't do that and suffer from lack of knowledge sometimes still after 1100 hours in the game lol. Don't be intimidated by the passive skill tree, builds or skills, the hardest part (imo) is learning what the good gear is.
Next option is to follow a build guide which is how I learnt. I recommend Liftingnerdbro on Youtube. His guides are specifically beginner friendly and he is respected throughout the community so you know you're getting good info. For guides on mechanics, EngineeringEternity, Liftingnerdbro, ZiggyD all have good videos explaining things.
You can always ask here too, we may be able to help

I started playing this 2 weeks ago. Im now lvl 82 on map tier 7/8 and completely addicted. This game is great.
Couple things I really dont understand:
Crafting and Item value etc, I use a loot filter but have no idea why some Items show up and others dont etc.

What filter are you using? There should be a guide explaining what colours mean what. For example I use Neversinks filter and he has pictures explaining what colours mean what in his thread. I just referred to that until I learnt it. It's quite hard to explain when we don't know what filter your using and which items you are unsure about
Re crafting, I wouldn't bother with any serious crafting until you really know your stuff. To craft anything decent takes 'a lot' of currency. Obviously quick changes like sockets, fusing links and the odd essence craft is fine, but making something from scratch takes a lot of knowledge and in game monies
