If this was an AMD launch everyone would be huffing the "Fine Wine" copium with bold statements about driver maturity
Anyway, as someone coming from a 2000 series I couldnt care less about uplift from the 4000 series. Largely irrelevant for an audience like me!
Yeah agreed. For 4000 series owners, the 5080 and lower don’t look great but for anyone else the gains will be significant. I don’t think the performance is really such to declare “blackwell bad” or words to that effect.
I guess the problem is mainly the direction of price but it ain’t gonna change so suck it up or don’t… As a 3080 10GB owner and one who games at 4K 240Hz, I have chosen to suck it up, bend over and lube up and I shall be there with the boys tomorrow at 2pm furiously using F5 for a shot (and failing )
It's not so much a FOMO thing but there is the frustration that it'll be like previous gens and the 9800x3d where the initial wave comes in on expected (appreciate they haven't officially been revealed yet) price but then the markups start happening for subsequent batches that appear.I am going to wait this one out till there is more stock, I am too old for pressing F5 on an item that's not limited edition or limited production rum, I am not going to die waiting few months. In a few months there will be more stock, highly doubt there will the demand for 5090 as there was with 4090. Most 4090 owners will unlikely to upgrade as its not worth paying over £1000+ after selling their 4090, for extra 30% and some fake frames, there is not enough performance uplift. I highly doubt there will be demand for 5080 either as its performance is not great by early leaks.
All you can hope is they don't sell at the inflated prices so the prices drop really. The 9800 is slowly coming back down again at many retailers. It's not so much a FOMO thing but there is the frustration that it'll be like previous gens and the 9800x3d where the initial wave comes in on expected (appreciate they haven't officially been revealed yet) price but then the markups start happening for subsequent batches that appear.
You're forgetting the increased power draw and the the stupid price increases. If this was an AMD launch everyone would be huffing the "Fine Wine" copium with bold statements about driver maturity

Good luck getting a 5080 for what MSRP 4090s sold for not to mention less ram, Slower and need I go on?
Well the 5080 is a DOA
Totally agree but as a standalone product it's absolutely dog s***. Makes good sense for people on 30 series or previous. Not necessarily, 4080s were eol months a go so stock is gone. That leaves the 5080 as the only option if you want 4080 performance.
On the plus side now Nvidia have lost a **** ton of dough We may get back to them making a decent gaming GPU for the 60x series now their cash cow AI racket is collapsing.Totally agree but as a standalone product it's absolutely dog s***. Makes good sense for people on 30 series or previous.
Very underwhelming it has definitely changed my upgrade plans. On a 3070 and was thinking I’d possibly go for a 5080, now I might as well get a 4080 but I’m expecting the 4080s won’t be as cheap as I’d hoped.Well the 5080 is a DOA
That was my thinking the big three needed that shake and kick up the ass.Very underwhelming it has definitely changed my upgrade plans. On a 3070 and was thinking I’d possibly go for a 5080, now I might as well get a 4080 but I’m expecting the 4080s won’t be as cheap as I’d hoped.
how can a product be EOL six months before the replacement product? Not necessarily, 4080s were eol months a go so stock is gone. That leaves the 5080 as the only option if you want 4080 performance.
To shift production towards the new product and to ensure there isn't any old product left on the market so you're forced to get the new onehow can a product be EOL six months before the replacement product?
