Just got FF8 and then seen fallout3 for £2.50 paid for it then reallised I already have it!! (thought I had new vegas) rushed the purchase at that low price lol.
Who wants it??
I take it that it's all one key. It's a shame because I only need Brigmore witches, and it's only slightly cheaper than the whole pack.
FF8 tried things differently, namely the combat scaling system, which was easily broken. Through playing the card game and other tricks, you could upscale your damage and health while still keeping your level super low, meaning you could one hit bosses if you turned off random encounters. Also FF7 seems to give all the fanboy's wet dreams, and so FF8 was automatically crap in comparison.
That being said it was quite fun at the time, and theres a theory about the story that makes it a lot more convincing and interesting.
Squall is stabbed through the chest with a giant icicle near the start of the game, up until then he is a bit of a loser, but everything starts going right for him. One theory is that the whole game is a fever dream while he lies on his death bed.
Not to say that you should have to delve into internet discussions about metaphors and imagined themes in the story to make it worthwhile, but people seem to do that with FF7 lifting it onto some kind of pedestal, while not applying the same treatment to anything else.
I'd recommend waiting until the Christmas sale at least since it's so close. You could probably read up on the junction system in the mean time and find out how best to get certain kinds of magic (for junctioning) as it can be very overwhelming for new players.
Ahah, severely beaten on the CoH2 discussion, GMG definitely wasn't that cheap the other day when I checked, however I couldn't say as to the SavvyGamer link. Maybe they price matched? (And then beat)
I would say for anyone who hasn't played it before, and therefore doesn't have the nostalgia connection, probably wait until it's on a sale. I honestly have no idea how well it has aged! Bought it on PS+ a few months back and haven't got around to it yet. In terms of playing it before/after FF7, it doesn't really matter. As far as I know they aren't connected at all.
I'm running Fallout 3 on Windows 7 64-bit and only had problems with the freezing/crashing when i initially started playing. After applying this fix it works completely fine. Installed a number of mods too and still no crashing.

Ah that's a shame as its such a fantastic game. I did come across another supposed fix somewhere but cant seem to find it now. If i do, i'll be sure to let you know.
