Pro Tip: PC gaming will never die. As long as MS keep bundling minesweeper and solitaire in their OS's
i dont think that pc games are dying, they are just changing to be more like console games
we get a lot less exclusives than we did in the late 90's because its cheaper for the developers to make a game on a console and then port it to pc
the ports have been getting a lot better tho so as long as the games are good im happy
This has caused a storm over on The Escapist forums (where I frequent/live).
What I took form the video was that he says the PC isn't "dying" but rather that it's broadening. The line between Console, Phone, Laptop, Desktop, Arcade, TV, car, fridge, toilet, etc. is blurring and eventually the desktop gaming computer will become more and more niche as computing becomes ubiquitous.
A lot of people seemed to take his thoughts as "PC games suck and nobody makes them any more since consoles are so much more powerful and cooler". Which is not the case at all. The show is designed to spark discussion (and it has evidently succeeded in that task) so it was presented in a fairly "fan bait" way.

As is said in the video it's not a ridiculous idea to think that the PC will no longer be the "Hub" when smartphones connect directly to your TV, camera, tablet, fridge, a networked storage device, and the internet without a host-client relationship. Different gadgets will talk to each other and operate separately from one controlling machine.Regardless, you still need a platform to host use these things.
I should have worded that completely differently. Basically my point is what we use a desktop PC for now will, in all likelihood be spread out among different gadgets that are mobile.Problem is you mentioned desktop gaming as if we use a computer solely for gaming, we don't. In fact we already have been using it for some of the things you mentioned for years.
My point exactly. The lines are blurring. You no longer need a PC to surf the web, manage your music collection, organise your holiday snaps, edit videos, watch WebTV. You can do these things on a Console. If anything, consoles will evolve to run like a PC with a decent interface, browser/apps and a keyboard to type with, without the hassle of compatibility issues.
Which leads to the next point, console games are simple, easy, for the masses. It has always been, it's were the most money is. Because why? A lot of people need simple things and are easily (but shortly) amused!
Reason I am in here is to get back into PC Gaming.Thing is it is younger people who are being brought up on consoles, who have never or will never play a PC game,That is the problem for the future.
As harsh as this may sound, who cares what your friend thinks
