PC V's Consoles

The whole PC vs Concole arguement Never really gells for me. Surely it should be PC vs Concole vs Macs

Consoles are like the grandpas of gaming now. They've been around a quite a while, they haven't really changed in this time but they are dependable and they have a bob or two behind them.

Macs are the relative u rather not know, it seems like everyone has one. And they are a bit special but after a while u realise its not quite the special you thought it was.

PC gaming is the teenager.. it does what it wants, when it wants, how it wants, with who it wants.

I know the one id rather be using but as long as everyones happy why does it matter?

crysis annoyed me... it was annoyingly complex and you sometimes do need to use the suite I think that spoiled it tbh
it looked lovely yes...with that said mafia 2 looks stunning I had a go with the 360 demo and I missed my PC :( I actually noticed the difference it need AA badly also had slow downs...something which console gamers wouldn't notice.

I have an upto date PC and a PS3. PS3 is the best platform at the moment looking at current games. If someone was to buy one or the other today to play games present and future then the PC is quite a bit behind. The PS3 exclusives combined with the console-only games and multiplatform games give the best choice of games. The PC only has multiplaform games and RTS games.

The graphics arn't that much different really. For every game that is notably better on PC, there are 3 console-ports that don't look much different or need a stupidly high spec PC to run 'OK' and 1 or 2 games that arn't available for the PC. Crysis is/was one game from 3 years ago. A game that I finished at the time and plan to re-play soon but it is not enough to carry the PC platform for 3 years with people saying "look at Crysis" all the time. It's just a shame showing what could have been if the games were there to carry it on. Oh well.

Goes without saying that there is huge cost difference. I spend next to nothing to play games on the PS3. The games reduce by a large % in no time but the main reason is that you can sell the games once you have finished them. If a game still costs £20 new, people will queue up to buy it 2nd hand for £15. Cheap cheap gaming.

The gaming I seem do on my PC these days seems to be re-playing PC games like HL2 and also playing 'Xbox' games like L4D and Mass Effect etc. Of course, I choose some multiplatform games on the PC just because I can. I wouldn't be missing out if I didn't have this choice.

Can't see the link, at work. Next generation consoles will probably be download only similar to itunes. Other than that I can't see any big chnages happening any time soon. It's not something I'll worry about anyway.

Couldn't play a fps game on a controller it's horrible, mouse and keyboard is so much nicer.
It's a shame though pc gaming isn't very social, can't go round a mates house and just play a MP gamel (though idk any pc gamers lol)

What is this 'porting console games to pc'. What exactly does it mean?

Console games only run as good as they do on the hardware because developers spend time optimising their games. Because they are making one game for three platforms and because the PC is more powerful and also because it's the smallest market share, they just port it over.

damm these pc graphics look as bad a a iphone game

I have a PC and an Xbox. My first love was console gaming and then came the PC when I was about 12. Still use my PC for the odd gaming (FPS and Strategy is the ultimate platform and most people will agree)

Now we got the witcher, stalker series, eve online, anno 1404, arma 2, starcraft etc. all great games designed for pc. you like fps more these days like most people and other genres hurt because of that.

Sure - there are decent games about, and much comes down to personal taste, but bar possibly Starcraft 2 none of the games you listed are a patch on the PC greats we used to get. Fallout, Planescape etc

have you even played arma 2 yet? nope thought so. it destroys planetside. veryv ery realistic unique game

Quake, Half Life, Half Life 2

Those days are gone sadly, in part due to consoles, I do own an xbox (purely for fifa), for me PC gaming is in a coma at the moment (sadly), I'm still waiting for BF3 or something to turn up but I don't hold out much hope, most likely it will be developed for consoles with restricted vehicles and small maps like COD and BFBC2.

i play my ps3 for rockband etc, stuff i cant really play on a pc, i used to play mw2 bfbc2 etc on my ps3 but sold up and moved all my fps games etc to my pc. also bought a wii for the wife, she seems to enjoy it.
