People waiting for your car park space

If I see that people are waiting, I tend to get in my car and drive off as a courtesy. I can do all my other stuff elsewhere like a loading area or something. If I have a parking ticket which still has time on it, I'll usually offer that to them too.

Then again, I find that being considerate to people around me ends in much more pleasant interactions with them rather than annoying them for no real reason.

The only voice of reason so far in here! Unless there is a genuine reason to wait in the space I'd be considerate that it's a busy carpark and get out of there so others can go about their day as well.

I say I’m not going or shake head.

Though one thing that annoys me when have a car hovering waiting you to leave and you are leaving. Some hover at a position where it makes it difficult or impossible to leave.

Problem now is most car parks with pay n display is that need to input reg number at machine so printed on ticket. So can’t pass on ticket to someone else. Sneaky way. How much money did councils lose over people handing over tickets with time left to others?

This happens a lot at new Polzeath not only is it a free space (nearby car park £8 plus IIRC) above the beach with easy access but an amazing veiw and base for.the day.
I will usually wait for a Local before I drive away, no way some upcountry townie with a roof box is getting it

Edit, this is tounge in cheek BTW I'm a Yorkshireman

Car park that I use when I want to go into the city centre doesn't even have tickets
Camera snaps your plate when you enter, then you input the reg on the computer before you leave and it works out how much you owe based on time spent there

No, of course you're in no obligation to leave but if you're not then it's polite to look over and shake your head so they know you're not moving.

This really.

While you're under no obligation to move, it's courteous to let them know that you're not leaving so that they can go elsewhere and find a space.

God dam foreigners coming over here and acting like pleasant human beings :p

These threads remind me why interacting with the general populous is ****ing painful at times.

It’s the people that use the the air/water space at petrol stations as a general parking space and then leave their car whilst they do some shopping that get me. Now that’s worth calling the police over ;)

This thread is a prime example of why its horrible to drive in this country. Someone waiting for you to leave a parking space in a busy place is not an insult, its not an affront to your person, they simply want to park. Why on earth are some people acting like ******** because people want their space.

If I am in a busy car park, finished putting fuel in the car and its busy etc I get out of there as soon as I can so someone else can use the spot I was in.

I'm always utterly stunned at how few people let anyone out of side roads when I am driving and this is probably the same people who would take extra time in a parking garage if they knew someone was waiting for their spot. These ***** can be rolling at a few mph up to stationary traffic and they still won't let someone out. Baffles me.

Agreed. Utterly baffling. I do my best to speed things up if it isn't going to cause me any inconvenience.

As someone who frequently waits for spaces at the smaller beach carparks it's fine to take your time.

Just the tantalising taste of securing that space is enough to keep the elation up and those endorphins pumping.
The longer the wait. The greater the satisfaction of scoring 'that' space.

Only gets anxious if another car arrives and it turns into a standoff.

Or.. The dick move of when coming out, blocking my car and allowing the new waitee in. That's equivalent to Christmas being cancelled for a kid

Just make sure if you're not leaving to make it clear. I'll usually ask from my window!

The car park at Dunraven is free in the evening and only small capacity. It's right on the beach so is super popular. It's very much worth waiting even 20 mins as next alternative is basically that far

Spot on. Some people are just right ********

Motorists in their tin cans going full 'tard

Or park at a pump, fill up, then do a week’s shop in the PS shop.
PS shops at supermarkets should only sell newspapers, snacks and drinks. If anyone wants more, visit the actual supermarket itself!
Never use a middle pump again as both cars front and behind were straddling so too narrow to pass either of them.

One dangerous and really annoying thing I had not long ago was someone letting me in on a dual carriage way . They slowed down. Obviously I didn't pull out as I wasn't sure how fast they were going. This nearly caused a mini pile up. When they went by they had the cheek to glare.

Why do people do that. Causes so much confusion.

I generally let people out of side roads, it doesn't cost me anything and improves the flow of the world.

Except Audis. I never let them out as punishment for their appalling standard of driving.
