Pete Doherty

You are making out that im wrong. I said his life aint as plain as others, i said hes pretty articulate when he aint mumbling, I said hes intelligent... and more talented than probably even you...

His music isnt a joke at all, im no indie kid or big fan of him, but i like some of his songs.

Hes a mess.. yeah so what. So is amy winehouse but i listened to my gfs amy winehouse album in the car and i thought it was brilliant too.

Regardless of personal tastes, i honestly dont think anyone here slagging him off has any real grounds to do so. None of you even know the bloke. You just make an opinion from the media perception.

His contrived nonsense in interviews is enough.
His guitar playing is pathetic.
He is not nown for his "music" which highlights the fact its not very good.
Babyshambles are shambolic.
He believes in his own Hype.

How do you know how"exciting" his life is?

Surely you are making this opinion based on the media perception?;)

The difference is that whether you love her or loathe her, Amy Winehouse is musically in another league. Yes of course he is more talented musically than people on this forum, thanks for stating the mind-numbingly obvious, but that doesn't make him any less of a waste of space or any less deserving of having the position he is in now. His life an an adolescent was very successful... so you can hardly say "go easy on him, he's had a hard life".

Pretty articulate?

LOL just LOL

I would recommend you go to a bookshop, you don't have to buy it but pick up the big brown book that says pete doherty on the front, and read some of the earlier pages from before the drugs. Also bear in mind that it's coming from a teenager at the time.

Also listen to his recent interview with zane lowe where he's clean, if you can find it

He is very articulate and polite in interviews, have you read or watched any?

His guitar playing is on par or slightly better than john petrucci, which isnt great but he is good arranging songs and such.

I think his lifestyle is a good advert for his music.

And he doesnt seem big headed to me... He has said in many interviews his not the best singer/songwriter or guitarist he just has some songs he wants to sing so he does.

My thoughts on him come from an interview i seen with him on erm... Jonathan Ross i think, When i saw his mother on telly, And from his music that ive heard.

I dont take notice of the photos and articles in the papers. Because similar to the way that the dozy copper recently got hounded for saying that Ecstasy was safer than aspirin. The papers dont know *&^%..

I think its a shame that any young man is in the depths of a drug addiction, being hounded by press, and having his whole life potentially ending if he doesnt help himself.

Friends and family can all go downhill from drink or drugs, but i doubt you would condemn your brother if he went the same way. (as an example, if u have a brother ofc)

I saw his performance with Elton John at Live8.

Wow I thought that man's got talent.

lol

Someone was putting him off by shouting "Give us your hat pete" all the way through it. And he had £35 of drugs in him. I'd like to see you give a steller performance when wasted.

He's a professional musician so you say,but he cannot deal with heckling from a crowd?

£35 of drugs? Is that all? I thought he was a junkie?

He shouldn't have gone on stage. But he did because he believes in his own hype.

Elton John could have done the song without him and no one would have known.

He was an embarassment not only to himself but to the whole of the country.

haha, you lot whining on like he's the first musician to ever do drugs. tell me, what do you think of RHCP? Nirvana? Any band in the history of the universe?

They could play live jacked up though.

Coltrane could.

Doherty can't even sing a cover live lol.

Thats my point.

no, it's your opinion. To be perfectly honest, I've never heard any of his music (not purposefully, the opportunity's just never presented itself) so I can't really comment. The point is that people who get addicted to drugs are not scum, heroin is a ****ed up drug, and addiction to anything makes ANYONE do incredibly stupid things, Doherty is just in the limelight so we get to see all the dumb stuff he does because he doesn't know what's going on.

Another problem with addiction is that it takes a while to realise that you need help, but even longer to actually start WANTING it - you get addicted because these things are fun and they make you feel great!

This post actually stopped being a reply to yours easyrider - it's more at the people who are calling him scum like he's the first bloke to ever have his mind clouded by heroin - yeah, allowing yourself to get addicted is pretty stupid, but I'd be lying if I said trying it had never crossed my mind. Some people really need to grow up and enter the real world.

Herman Brood.

Now that's a musician who took a lot of drugs, and still maintained grace all the way to his death (by suicide :() He basically took speed and drank a few shots of whiskey everyday since his early twenties right up to the end. Brood ended up being one of Holland's most celebrated R&R artists. Nobody here has probably heard of him though. Damn shame.

Some drugs will make you lose weight, others will see you rapidly gain it. Anyways, less drugs talk, more screwed up musician talk.

I like some of Doherty's music, and I will actually say it's a shame to see such talent go to waste under the excess of such drugs.
