Petrol tanker drivers to go on strike

Looks like the mad panic has started round here, went to Tesco and just as I got there they were putting out cones to stop people getting on the forecourt. Highly doubt they've sold out of super unleaded as I never see anyone using it, wish they would just put a sign up saying what was out, instead of closing entire forecourt.

Seems everybody go on a mad fuel spree around here too. Had no choice but to put super diesel in my car along with an queue at least twice as long as normal. Should last me two weeks before I need another fillup so hopefully all will be calm by then.

What really baffles me about it all is this "we are training people to deliver fuel" not a good portion of the population is outraged by the continuous rise in fuel taxes "lets do something about that"..

i just find that a very strange logical conclusion by a supposadly educated bunch of people

I just dont see where this line of thought ends ? let stop this, lets make this illegal, and then.... lets put tax up some more lol,

How much of the decision making process behind these decisions just relys on the joe public been an army of sheep who will put up with anything and continue to pay whilst the country becomes slowly more and more uncompetitive.

Doha' just put two and two together. This is why perrol station was so busy last night. All I wanted was some free air and it took a while to get there despite being on a bike.

Everyone is going absolutely bonkers around here. Queues everywhere and there hasn't even been a strike date announced!

Popped to my local supermarket today and it was normal. Local shell station that is a bit expensive (139.9 for unleaded) was empty

seems like pointless muscle flexing by the union,

unless they actually come out and tell us all whats wrong with the safety standards i couldnt give a flying one about their t&cs their on circa £45k a year at a time when there are plenty drivers out there looking for work and the countries economy is in the toilet I'm assuming that tanker drivers will be limited with the same regulations that govern regular class 1 drivers ala driving hours etc. so unless someone comes out and points out some fatal flaw in the tankers their driving or something that would justify them going on strike i'm calling shenanigans and putting it down to them really being greedy and wanting more money but not having the bottle to say that as the public would crucify them if they striked on those grounds

A cynic might say that you need some bad news to hide some really bad news. The ONS today released their latest pay statistics showing that the public sector are paid 8% more than private sector.

Of course this cannot be right (not correct in the current climate to claim credit for raising wages and benefits etc) so how about a bit of hysteria to wind up the nation to deflect the story.

Hmm - fuel blockades and shortages - that'll do...

I am nearly out of diesel and will have to fill up tomorrow. I didn't notice any more queues than normal today but sods law, it will no doubt catch me out tomorrow.
