*** Phanteks EVOLV Owners Thread ***

Finished my build in the Evolv ATX. Just need to get some cable combs when Cablemod get some to OcUK. I couldn't get the fan hub to work properly, so swapped out the 3 pin case fan Noctua's for some PWM Noctua's. Just used an Akasa PWM splitter connected to the SATA lead and motherboard. Works well. Back is a bit messy at the moment, may do some cable management at some point. Can't be seen from the front though. Does anyone know if Noiseblocker sell the fan gaskets, screws and little rubber inserts that go in the mounting holes, separately? I've got them on the rear fan, the fronts don't and it makes the case hum slightly.

You can get those gaskets at most places, and the rubber holding pins.

Google is your friend :)

I tried 2, no joy would not powerup the fans, used a Lampton which worked fine but looked odd, an Aqua Computer Aquaero 5 LT which looked to messy and would not fit the space behind M/Board, ended up with a Modmytoys one which does the job but runs the fans at 1300Rpm which is actually ok as the case needs this speed with it's reduced airflow, usually run at about 900Rpm.

Yeah, they sent another one out to you or something didn't they? Seems odd as they put that same controller in a load of their cases don't they? Wonder if they have had a quality issue with it. Not going to stop me buying it but it's a shame, not like I can move my bay controller over to this case :P In Fact I never want to own a case with external bays again :D

Damn shame about the front fans, only a 10mm deficit too, cheers for the measurements though :)

No I had bought a second one the one with the cover, same thing extra bit of plastic.

What you should be able to do is 2 X 240 and a 120, might try that myself get a bit more puff.

There's a phanteks rep on the forums I believe I saw one in the preview thread, may be worth dropping him a line.

Yeah, that was my backup plan, throw in a matched 120 I like uniformity.. even on bit's you can't see. I'm a freak I know.

Quite a few people have been saying about the restrictive airflow, It may actually be worth phanteks making a replacement front, could keep it solid, just remove the stylised bends on the face, so just a flat sheet of unbent 3mm aluminium. The recesses of the side panels should allow for vastly increased airflow while still maintaining the overall feel of the unit. Myself I'm happy to just take the front off while benching etc, I'm not really too bothered about running a peak overclock 24/7, the quieter system side sure, but I'm fairly confident of an almost silent system at idle and a quiet one in gaming especially with the growing popularity of AIO coolers for both CPU and GFX and a modest custom loop is, I guess a consideration, think i'd go for a few slimline copper rads with a medium pitched FPI, nothing beyond 2 card crossfire and after the production shrink. Think I'll be good.

The Phanteks Rep is watching, don't worry I'm sure reports will be going back to HQ. He is very friendly and is doing me some favours which is great because he liked my Midas build. I'll drop him a line and ask about our feedback if you like guys.

Maybe I could make a list of revisions they could consider in post #2 ?

I've added this to post #2 if you want additions please let me know. If you feel the text needs editing then feel free to give some constructive criticism. :)

1) Consider improving the airflow via the front panel.
2) Consider revised/additional placement for motherboard 24pin cable gromit.

Run the cable slot above psu from back to front, not side on, you just end up with a lump of cables.

All easy modifications to add in factory at no extra expense.

Consider moving or extending PCIe pwr pass through as many gfx cards will be notably shorter from this point on given the form factor of the Fury X and Nvidea also adopting HBM in coming generations.

3x 140 mm in the front. increase height slightly if needed. Just 10mm short.. (!)

A slight height bump would allow watercool users to install 3x 360mm rads, that was picked up in a few of the reviews, and also allow for the 8th PCI expansion port often need for x4 gpu setups

Think we are basically redesigning the case now :)

But it's rather puzzling these points were not thought out when Phanteks had it on the drawing board, unless they thought everyone would use ATX / 1 GPU and an AIO.

Perhaps they need some beta testers.

The included fan controller needs a big going over.

Thanks for the valuable feedback guys. We'll be checking this out.

Thanks Yun, I'm sure the guys here will be happy to know you are following the thread. Hopefully the feedback will be constructive and useful both ways :)

I've added RMA email address to post #2 also guys, for those who are having fan controller issues or any others problems then please use it.

If you have an issue with any of your Phanteks products, please use this email address for direct help.

I'm going to be home again Friday, can't wait to see the case in the flesh and post my pic finally so I can add myself to RoH :D

The Fan Hub is hardly worth the cost of sending it back TBH.

Going to drain mine down and try a 280 Rad in the front and move the res to try and grab a few Degrees hopefully.

Then sit back and wait for the modified V2 Track version to arrive. :)

24 pin lines up perfect with my Gigabyte Z97X G1

I'm liking that stealth GPU :)

You dont have to send it back they are just sending me a new hub free of charge.

That's great news. I can't wait to show you what they send me even though I had no rma issue, just because I asked if I could have it. ;)

What are everyone's experiences with wc rads. Is a 360 + 240 the max you can get away with without being stupidly tight?

Yes it certainly appears that way in most options. I'd like to compile a list of rad combos that work for Post #2.
So please list the specs of the rads you guys are using so I can make a list for new owners to refer to :D
