*** Phanteks EVOLV Owners Thread ***

So the replacement ones you had are 100% the newer revision that I put pics of a page or so back?

Yes newer version as you showed in pics, in fact the 4 hubs I have are all the newer version just do nothing.

I've contacted Phanteks to see if there is any other option, in the meantime i'm using a ModMyToys one which works but is a bit bigger, think I'll probably end up using a normal fan controller stuck in the HD space in the bottom, the Lamptron one from my old build works fine.

So after a few days with my case I'm still super happy, only slight problem is I'd rather not have a window, this is made worse by the fact that the sockets light up on my Superflower Leadex PSU, I didn't realise at the time of purchase. I asked Phanteks is they offer a solid panel, got a reply saying that sadly they don't.

I decided the next best thing was to tint my panel, I ordered some 20% window tint film, it's meant to only let in 20% light, it's not as dark as I hoped, I should have gone for 5% light. Still it has reduced the lights from the PSU, I will get a better idea tonight, should be watching a film so will see if it's a distraction or not.

What about removing the window and covering it with a white film then reinstalling it? Would just look like a removable solid panel.

For the fan controller does this cable basically do the same thing? I did order one with my vardars just incase the new phanteks controller didnt work.

It's not that easy as the window isn't flat, it has a raised edge around it. Also my case is black :p

Here are some pics with the panel open and shut, excuse the focus, my camera had no idea what to focus on lol

Yea the window is just like mine just bigger. Would be easy to unscrew window and put some black film on it. Even if you put some solid black film on the inside it would probably give the desired effect of a solid panel. Basically what your doing now but solid black to blend the rest of the side panel. Its a shame the PSU is glowing up as its a neat build inside.

I have the opposite problem that the window is too dark and small.

Yes that would do the job probably, just a bit more untidy suppose it would tuck away.

Just buy a solid side panel, it looks like they are interchangeable, swap yours over and try, then you can make the side you can see soild.

Thats a point I was thinking you couldn't swap the panels as the IO and switches but on the ATX version you dont have that problem. Phanteks charged me 15 euros inc shipping for a windowed side panel.

Guys, just had a thought regarding the fan controller, has anyone tried powering it with something other than the SATA power adapter it comes with? If possible of course, with multiple controllers not working for some users I'm wondering if this could be the issue.

That actually looks a bit nice but the camera focus may be a little kinder to it. I must admit though I'm not a fan of the vented PSU section I'd rather just flat unperforated metal for a super clean look.

.

The hub does not seem to be accepting the on/off pulses from the CPU/PWM Header.

I suppose you could try 240 Volts to it, may kick it into action :)

I get cpu fan error even though the cpu fan spins up straight away and I have to go in and out of bios to continue to boot. Tried setting cpu fan monitoring to ignore but this doesn't make any difference. Any ideas?

Is it controlling the fan speed once it boots or just running flatout ?

These hubs look like more bother than they are worth, easy option buy another brand of hub.

Was so close to buying this case when it was released but work came up and I just don’t have the time to do my first WC build, plus the PC is going to be moved about a reasonable amount over the next 12 - 18 months so not really the best environment.

I still want this case though so I’m wondering how good the air cooling is? Bearing in mind it will have to cope with a 4790k and one (possibly a second later on) 980ti.

Maybe something like the corsair 750 may be a better option for now (and still a great case from the looks of it), can get the AF variation now and buy the front panel later on which will allow me to put in a good loop when the time finally arrives…

…But I still want this case.

Have a look at some of the reviews in OP, they will give you a good idea of the cooling performance. Its a fantastic looking case for sure.
