Phillips BDM4350UC 43"

Made an account to post here so hello everyone! I received the BDM4350UC from OCUK yesterday: unfortunately mine has awful burn in (less than 30 minutes and you can see a clear shadow of any content that was there previously, even from a distance), horrendous backlight bleed (noticeable even in day scenes of movies/TV) and weird semi-grid pattern across the whole panel. I'm returning for a replacement in hopes that I was unlucky with QC but might return it and see what else comes out (Dell P4317Q springs to mind).

Here's some photos (excuse phone pictures. Proper camera was at work).

It's a shame these issues are so glaringly obvious and intrusive because in my limited time with it it's a wonderful monitor and exactly what I'm looking for (combination of PC monitor and bedroom home theater).

Looks like a decent monitor if the above issues are one offs.
I have a Philips 43PUT4900 which is the budget VA panel TV version of this (cost £265).

Mine has some shortcomings which this won't have (only 60Hz at either 1080p or 4K nothing in between, no DisplayPort), but I feel equipped to comment on the screen real estate size. That bit is absolutely brilliant and I have been able to drive a few games at 4K on my 970 like GTA (not maxed). Very impressive to me. Productivity is amazing as well of course.

I was looking forward to the release of this monitor, but it seems quite a few people are reporting issues which is putting me off.

I notice that any reference to the model vanished off the philips website mid week, and still has not returned, has anyone heard anything officially?

I am perhaps interested in this monitor; but ...

wondering if anything else will be coming out in the next 6 months that will better fit my needs.

Atm I have a 40inch korean monitor so familiar with what having more screen space does for productivity. But what a glossier screen and a bit refresh rate gsync prefered but realize it may be awhile before getting this on a 4k screen.

I had my 40" one replaced this year and was a bit gutted I missed out on this but it seems like teething problems with the new one. They should have added free/g-sync

Wow that is extremely bad, totally off putting a purchase! Got the prior 40" model and it's been a lovely experience.

I got this monitor two weeks ago and have none of the issues reported here thankfully. It's a great screen, I love it. huge jump for me coming from a 24" Sammy!

I would imagine you just haven't noticed the screenburn... from what i've read, they all seem to have it.

What model number is yours? /00?

Do you get the warning message upon startup stating not to leave a static image on the screen for >30mins?

Everyone who reports it says it happens very quickly, less than 30 minutes, I've had browsers open for hours and had no issues. There are clearly some issues with a few units but not with mine. Yes got the warning message.

That's incorrect. They do not all suffer from this issue at all. And the degree to which those affected are actually affected also varies. All Philips models (even those not prone to this) feature a warning message about image retention as a matter of course.

Well I must be imagining the sea of people on Amazon / HardOCP / here etc complaining about the issue.

ANY image retention / burn-in is unacceptable for a pc monitor.

Also:

1) Why would Philips specifically put such a warning message, that is extremely unusual for the pc monitor market.

2) Why has all reference to the model been removed from the Philips website.

I have the previous model and have no problems like this. Its a shame they released an inferior followup.

I have also read the other forums and it seems almost everyone has issues with this.

People are more vocal about issues when they have them than when they don't. It is misguided to suggest that, because some people (the more vocal ones) have issues, that all units are affected. I've also tested this extensively myself and gathered feedback from several users, the majority of which are quietly satisfied. And in answer to the above questions:

1) As a catch-all as some models may suffer from burn-in. And Philips can just say 'told ya so'... Right, that may not be the exact reason - best ask them.

2) No idea. I've brought this up with them and didn't get a satisfactory answer. I'll give another nudge.

I asked them about its removal from their site too and was told its because its a new model and hasn't been listed yet. Which is rubbish cos it used to be on there. You can still find the manual and product data sheet on the website. They know it has issues and have removed it but its still on sale. Agree it can't be all them as my one is fine and agree people who don't have issues won't go on the internet to complain.

Far too many have issues clearly but there's no way anybody is in a position to say its "all" of them.

I was holding out for this but gave up and went with a Samsung 2015 40" 4K TV instead, saving over £100 in the process. No display port but you get 4:4:4 chroma at 60hz over HDMI 2.0 ( so you need a Nvidia 9 or 10series card). Very happy so far and find great for what I use ( desktop, YouTube, movies, flight sims and RTS).
