phoned in sick...went to a festival...got caught...can I get sacked ?

You were a muppet to do what you did, but I think losing your job is a bit extreme.
I don't get why people think it is wrong to go to the beach, to the shops etc when you're off sick. Sometimes it's better to be out getting some air rather than being stuck in bed. You don't have to be paralysed to phone in sick - in fact I wish more people would stay away when they're unwell because it would stop bugs going round the workplace.

He went to T in the Park. 'Hmm I'm a little queesy today, I know, I'll go to a massive festival!' This isn't some walkabout for fresh air mang.

This is the worst forum to ask a question like this on.

too many people on here are super do gooders and they will frown on doing something like this.

at least you phoned in sick to go to a festival, because its more exciting then phoning in sick and waiting in the house for a new Geforce to arrive! :)

Yeah but it's T in the park, so it's worse than waiting for your new Geforce to arrive. Infact it's worse than anything. It's worse than calling in sick so you can laze about at home naked, masturbating to shemale pr0n and eating pot noodles all day.

It's more the fact he picked the phone up, then told his boss. Once you phone in you turn your phone of. Or at least make sure you never pick up a works phone number.

to cut a long story short I was half cut and ended up speaking to my boss on the phone and told him I was at T in the Park?

of course I didn't phone him!
thanks for the helpful replies

So let me guess. Your boss phoned you on your mobile, you actually answered, your boss heard all the background noise, questioned you and you couldn't come up with a decent excuse, so you spilled the beans?

This just gets dumber and dumber :D

Edit: Acid beat me to it.

Since most work places rely on trust, and you abused that trust, you're not in a good place right now. You might get lucky if you grovel and apologise, but if you've already had disciplinaries I don't hold out much hope. Be ready to clear your desk and get escorted off the premises.

PS - I'm old enough to remember the UB40 thing too. :)

Depending what you were actually like at work, the result of you doing that to me would be:

A-Final written warning and you best not cross me on anything AT ALL for the foreseeable future.
B- Fired.

if your about to get sacked you will have to pull out the alcoholic card

pretend your an alcho and that your admission to the boss was a cry for help.

also tell him you wherent at T in the park but that you where at the really noisy local stripbar, because your addicted to that too. you said T in the park to hide your shame.

Thats a plan. :p Get paid to goto AA!!

I actually got an "investigatory meeting" when I returned to work after being sick as I was spotted at my local shop.

When they asked me why I wasn't in bed I replied "Hungry, no food at home, or would you rather I died of starvation?"

And that was that. But I agree, sick people aren't necessarily going to be bed ridden.
