Pic: Your desk...RIGHT NOW

I've always loved this thread and now working on sorting out my own desk setup!

I purchased a solid oak worktop from worktop express and will be combining this with some industrial style steel legs. One thing I'm struggling with is I would like a nice lamp (either floor or desk style). Do you guys have any good suggestions? Ideally I'm looking for one with a replaceable LED bulb and also an adjustable style so that I can move it if required to ensure that the desk has enough light covering it.

Any suggestions appreciated as I have seen a lot of nice ones on here.

For example @LiE where is this one from :)?

Hasn't been all white for a while now.

Thanks!

Cheers I have good passive speakers and amp at the moment but amp might be on its way out and wanted something smaller!

Do you like them? Is it a pain having volume on the back of them?

I do like them but the volume at the back is a bit of a pain as you noted. This lead me to have the volume up high and controlling it via Windows. The downside to this is that when I don't have any music playing you get that white noise from having the volume high.

I changed them eventually, have a look here - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/forums/threads/pc-speaker-setup-for-300-400.18888622/

Yeah, those speakers are great value for money. Just a shame that the *really* good actives, like the KH120 would be an impossibility for you due to their looks. :D

Has anyone got any experience with acoustic panels?

I’ve got 30 30x30cm foam panels coming tomorrow (I definitely don’t intend to use all 30) but not sure on placement. The purpose is for helping with echo/sound quality for the mic. I’m doing a lot of training videos and talks at the moment so want to make it sound as crisp as possible

Was thinking behind the monitors and a few panels on the side walls directly in line with the mic but not even sure if that’s optimal?

Unfortunately you're going to have issues due to the close proximity of the walls and the largely similar length and width. But as you say, behind the mic to stop immediate reflections from the speaker (you) is a good start. Think about the reflection paths of sound e.g. one bounce from you, off the side wall to the mic. That's one of the spots to dampen.

Is that a condenser mic? If so they tend to pick up the wider room a lot more, whereas dynamic microphones are more directional and more proximity based. Both those factors help reject unwanted sound e.g. from far away or behind the microphone.

If the coaster moves over anymore, it'll be on the floor.
