It also looks huge in screen size in that picture, But it was only a 19" inchFunny how thick monitors were back then and 5:4.
That looks amazing I can imagine it gets hot in there? After welcoming our 4th child three weeks ago, project man cave commenced. We’ve had a boarded out ‘loft’ for the 9.5 years we’ve lived in the house but all we used it for was a dumping ground.
I work from home too and was sick of mine and the wife’s desk area being on the landing so decided to sell off the desks and have a trip to ikea.
The hatch is around 4ft high and accessed from our bedroom so some serious squatting is needed to get in (im 6’3!).
The Desk is a ikea kitchen work top in white and the usual Alex drawers. The bean bags are really comfy and it’s nice chill out area for watching tv, listening to music or reading. I might allow some of the kids to chill out in here when I’m gaming..
The pics make it look cramped but it really isn’t, plenty of space to move around at my desk.
Some tidying still required and some improvements on the lighting but chuffed with it.
Ikea Karlby Worktop, Alex drawers and Lerberg legs (though Ikea don't seem to do the legs anymore). A lot of people go for the worktop + two drawers combo but I liked that the trestle leg, gave me more legroom with a more open look.
I think come the new year I will be redecorating my office and going for a sit/stand desk with the bigger Karlby.
whats everyone using for cable managment? looking for advice on what to use with a 210mm ikea desktop if anyones got suggestions
I had one similar to this and all that is left is keyboard tray - I fitted it under counter worktop I have sitting on two wooden filing cabinets.I remember that craze back then. Nearly all of them had angled or sloped tops or ledges on the top for other stuff like CDs as well as the keyboard tray. Or the big cornered desks where you face into the corner as the keyboard tray slides out with the CRT on the next ledge.
The memories of the ball mice and cleaning the rollers just thinking about this with 56K modems and AOL discs.
i used a gluegun on the office desksBecause I'm daft, copious amounts of double sided tape to tape everything and their mother to the underside of the desk.
Does anyone have any suggestions for rugs to be put under desk/chair to make it easier to move chair around / not damage carpet?
I have the ikea kolon at the moment which is horrible.
Thinking of a ruggable, bit expensive but maybe worth it?
Cheers,
Does anyone know if Ikea does a replacement for their Alex storage cabinet? Or another range that could be used (ideally want cabinet one side, drawers the other)?
Seems they've discontinued it and it's drawers only now
I just use a piece of leftover carpet and cut it down to size.
Don't you end up with bits from the edges falling off all the time?
