Fairly simple i think.

I previously had an IKEA special, with the Alex drawers/cupboard and an IKEA worktop. However I found the worktop too shallow and I felt way too close to my monitors. Even after mounting the. Up against the wall.
I've since changed to more office style deep desks which gives me a much more comfortable position.

Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just picky?

Yeah i get that with my setup at the moment... but can't really replace mine as the worktop when bought was just the right measurements i needed length wise. Prefer it to be deep so i have more empty space around me

I have a vertical monitor mount, rather than an arm that pulls out, so my monitor is only a few inch away from the back of the desk, and then I can still tilt if needed.

Yeah I like a deep desk (use an old dining table) and can't have it right up against a wall as need to stick my legs out sometimes.

I very much doubt everyone has a tidy desk in general without them cleaning it for a photo.. here's mine.. and its only gonna get worse as my study is tiny and i'm building a replacement rig behind me.

or maybe i'm just a pig!
Here's an update of mine as of today. Messy too but I'm busy transferring to my new desk at the new house shortly. :)

I don't like to judge as we all have different experiences and things going on (my desk is pretty untidy right now) but @LeeUK you should at least get a vac on those crumbs if you can or ask someone to help you? It's not very hygenic. Maybe your new place is going to give a bit more space for you? Looks like the keyboard needs a good shake out too (unless you like the 'tactile' or 'crunchy' switch feel!).

am i the only one who is getting irritated by the wall style? It looks as if the decorator has flung filler onto the wall and left as is... at least sand it down!

unless this is a new trend
