[PIC_THREAD] Landscapes, Architecture, Seascapes

Thanks for the critique much appreciated, just starting out and I'm finding seascapes a lot easier to get something pleasing from than inland areas. I think maybe because the sea is ever changing with the tide so it's easier to find something interesting, and the movement of the water gives the photo some interest also. Still its good just finding out what works and doesn't.

They're just my personal opinions and I'm far from an expert! :)

Seascapes can be bland too without the right sky and something else other than water! Looks like a nice place you went to though :) shots like that are why I quite fancy exploring this country a bit more hehe

That first shot of yours might have been better a bit earlier on when there was still light on stuff but who knows! A landscape shot that works in the early morning might be pants in the evening etc due to light. I can see why you tried that shot with the wall and the big rock and maybe there's a processing option that would make it viable but that drab colour in the shade + rock doesn't do much for me.

I shall follow you in Flickr to see what else you come up with next hehe :)

Yes it is, we camped there for three days . View from glacier point

Brings back fond memories. One of my favorite walks is to park near Bridalveil falls and walk up the 4 mile trail form the valley floor to glacier point and then take the panoramic trail down. You get the best views of the falls, Half done and el capitan with almost no one in sight (except at GP). Much better than following the army to Half Dome summit.

Unsure of the category here, but it seems like these might fit into here somewhere! Fireworks shots from an EP5 and 25mm F1.8, obviously not wide angle enough to capture whole explosions unless lucky, but some various cropping ended up with these, which I think have great colours considering my amatuerness :P

Not sure if I prefer this shot in black and white or colour.

Again not sure if I should crop this and concentrate on the stark colour difference or keep as is.

Kinda like the stark contrast the sun is making through the clouds.

I think looking at the pictures on here I need to chuck the kit lens I am using and buy a wide prime.
