I love pelicans. When they take off it is like watching a 747., then when airborne they tend to to wing-in-ground effect to glide effortlessly over the water. If they spot something they pull to gain 100-150ft before dive bombing into the water with a huge splash.
Sitting on the grass at Chatsworth Estate having a picnic yesterday and a group of Ducks came up to us to try and get some food off of us, they weren't shy one little bit!
Another trip to Dutch gap to find Osprey, their appearance was brief I had put my camera away while I was fed the baby but I'm happy enough with the results.
Sadly no sign of the chicks.
Other bird life was surprisingly rare. I had a few captures but all too distance, too much foliage etc and so were chimped. however, I have never seen so many butterflies
This was quite a scary encounter, being mating season the males get quite agitated and occasionally will trample intruders to death. He was 20 feet from the trail. We waited about an hour for him to move on.
