Whatever you have, it's never enough lol

Have gone to 600mm now, the lure of more reach over the past year has got to me, and with Sigmas bargain offering of the 150-600 C, I couldn't resist.

For some of the little subject I need to get closer to the animals, Tom Green style I think. :D

Grabbed this from the garden.

Yeah the closest I've come to using any real fieldcraft is to sit in little hides provided at wildlife places but I'd like to get my own hide setup somewhere sometime and just sit in there and see what happens :)

I usually just wander around with my 200-400 with the builtin extender in so 560mm and handhold shots at whatever I find. It can be good but can also be a bit limited so it would good to try something a bit more sneaky!

A very nice lens you have there Phal!

A lot of patience is needed but I find it very relaxing and calming. With many types of photography there can be a degree of rushing, stressing, panicing to get the shot you want before people get in the way or the opportunity is missed due to various factors, especially so in zoos. Something nice about waiting around in a nice natural setting for a wildlife subject to appear, which could basically be anything in the blink of an eye.

I've never been fishing but I guess I can kind of relate to that feeling perhaps?!

Yeah there's definitely elements of fishing or even hunting when it comes to wildlife photography.

It's basically hunting but instead of coming back with an animal corpse for lunch, you get a few pictures.
