[PIC_THREAD] Wildlife, Animals, Birds, Zoo

Yeah I did a few circuits then explored the area around it. I've visited a handful of RSPB reserves in and around London.

If you want to know details for the beardies and location at Rainham let me know. Apparently they get quite a few owls just outside the reserve come November.

I'm off next week. Richmond Park is a good shout.

I don't know which direction you are coming from, I drove in from Surrey and the A316 was very congested even at 7 a.m.

Thank you both.
I've decided to spend a weekend at RSPB Minsmere at the end of the month so others are on hold at the moment. I've no idea what to expect or do there as I've never been to anywhere outside my comfort area before but I'm sure it'll be fun :)

Shot this last autumn in Richmond park

Excellent Kingfisher shot Buddy, which hide was that taken from?
Cosimo, that's quite beautiful and the stag pose is very good socreative.

Thanks! It was from Nettley's Hide but it was a lucky encounter according to the volunteers there. If you want guaranteed Kingfisher shots I'd visit Warnham LNR and plant yourself in the Tern Hide.

The hide is very close to the action with lots of natural perch points arranged right in front. Over summer they have terns which are great to watch.

On another note thank you for the black rapid strap suggestion. Whilst searching for it on amazon I ended up getting a cheaper "focus f1" shoulder strap with an additional tether. I wore it for approx 6 hours on Thursday. Comfortable and robust and it all came to £18. No back pain!

I've sat in Nettleys for hours with nothing to show for it!
Warnhams next on my list, glad you"re pain free!

Just taken possession of my brothers old camera - plan is to gather some lenses and switch to newer body once I've refreshed myself with the camera/lightroom.

One of the first shots from it.

RSPB Minsmere...

Here's a few from my visit.
It's a lovely place full of a massive variety of birds but is very much geared up towards Twitchers and families so it's quite busy and you can't get near enough to the majority of wildlife to get all the pictures you want.
I saw plenty I hadn't seen before like Bearded ****, Stonechats, Swallow, Bitterns and Marsh Harriers so I enjoyed it on the whole.
