Picked up a LG OLED55B6V

Perfect, thank you.

I tried this last night. I've always despised motion controls for the artefacts they introduce. So I'm now left with a toss up between tracers or artefacts. My 1080p samsung was 60hz too but did not exhibit the same issues.

On the verge of sending this back as it hasn't blown me away at all. None of the inputs I use have anything close to the same vividness of the colours in the menu screens. I at least know the menu is capable, I just dont have anything that can make use of the tech.

I agree. The E6 peak brightness does not look as bright as previous js8000 from 2015 & that also looked more vivid even with daredevil.
Black is better on oled but have to watch in a dark room.
Overall I'm happy with oled tho.

I watch mine in a bright room with no issues it's still bright enough. It's not as bright as LED's but it still looks pretty decent.

Have you tried turning the OLED light up I found this increases the light intensity without washing things out too much...

The TV is by a window which in the morning the sun shines through. Granted then I would not expect any TV to compete.
I'm a bit hesitant in increasing the OLED light to 100 for anything other than HDR/DV as everyone seems to run it around 50.

I personally would not go higher than 65 with non HDR content, its plenty bright enough for me at 50-55, with brightness at 50.

But its all personal preference.

Paid £1799 @ JL just before Easter, managed to get a price match of £1499.

I managed to get the £150 code off at Currys when it was £1599, so £1449. Potential for 5% TCB too so would take it to £1377. Not sure if they'll pay that though.

Still loving the TV tbh my only complaint now is LG need to remove the locked Wide colour Gamut for game mode. It makes everything look a bit odd. Other than that more than happy. I also got £150 refunded for price matching.......

Yeah, the gamut locked to wide is odd.

On my old TV I used to use the on screen TV guide a lot, I don't like using the guide on this set though, very messy personally.

Im loving this TV though and now looking to get a 4k player, I use my standard Xbox currently but miss having a standalone player, looking at the Sony X800, hoping it will eventually get a DV update as well. YSP2700 passthrough may be a problem with Dolby Vision but this player and most high end players have separate HDMI ports to route picture to TV and sound to receiver.

Damn, some of you have got a really good price on this TV! I paid 2K back in November, worth every penny though! I've noticed that it really breathes new life into old films. Was watching The Battle of Britian (1969) last weekend, it was almost like a new film, I've seen it loads of times but never quite like I did on the OLED. Next film to watch is Saving Private Ryan, hoping it will be another strong performer.

I'm happy with Netflix for anything 4k. I'm selling off all my discs as I have gone Apple TV so not overly interested in 4k Blu-Ray. I run my 2700 using hdmi arc as tbh it sounds the same and is far less hassle. I have not really tried the TV guide as we have Sky so use that instead.

Hopefully they will fix the Wide Gamut for game mode.

Would you not be better just replacing your Xbox with an S model ? You get the Xbox and 4K player all in one box then.

I'm really annoyed with myself that I didn't get the c6 from currys when it was reduced + the £150 off code as well as with that TCB 5% of too  Amazing value for money. Hopefully it won't be long until we can get it for £1449 again....

I was set on the b6 due to it being flat but after watching the below video, I definitely want the c6 instead now.

Nothing in the video makes me wish I had got a C6. The HDR thing has been fixed and tbh I doubt you would see a difference. The 3RD party SOC seems to work fine for me as well. Tbh I would much rather a flat screen with an extra HDMI and have no interest in "Tree..D"....

Just view both and choose which one is better for you. Stay away from all these "Expert" reviews and judge for yourself.....

I was thinking about the xbox S but I originally had 2 of them both with an annoying fan noise and to be honest I hardly use the xbox as a games machine, the scorpio sounds good but until I see games that appeal to me I think a standalone 4k player will be best.

Another thing I can't remember if you said you use low or high black level in game mode on the B6? I was using limited and low but have since changed to automatic on PS4 pro and high on the B6.

As It seems its the correct setting as when you switch from automatic in the ps4 to full the screen does not flicker which suggests on automatic its using full.

TBF, Vincent truly is an expert even if he can't pronounce 3D correctly... :p

As for myself, I am definitely sold on the c6 over the b6 for 2 of those reasons:

- the chip, like he said, the b seems to receive the updates later, it reminds me a bit of mobile phones i.e. samsung, the way one will have exynos and another version will have a snapdragon chip and the exynos version performs better since it is Samsung's own chip so they know the ins and outs of it, as a result they probably code better driver/software optimization for it
- as for 3d, I have hated every 3d film I've seen in the cinema (except for resident evil as that film was completely made for 3d viewing) but so far everyone that has used 3d on the oled TVs has said that it jaw dropping due to the infinite contrast ratio i.e. true blacks and higher brightness, given that none of the 2017 OLED TVs have 3d due to the lack of interest/sales of 3d films, this isn't really a biggy moving forward but for myself it will be a nice to have

I don't really care for curve on a TV either but the curve on the c6 is very subtle and I can live with it, I don't watch any sports so having exactly straight lines won't be an issue for me.

Either way, both are fantastic TVs and you can't go wrong with either, personally for myself, the c6 just seems like it is a bit more future proofed.

In what way is the C6 future proofed over the B6, there virtually the same TV apart from the 3D/curve and LG in-house chipset on C6.

At the moment I'm pretty sure the B6 has a newer firmware over the C6.

Just view both and buy which you feel is best for you...

Is that current firmware not specific for the b6 though?

Apparently the latest firmware version is being tested on Korean LG OLED sets, which further improves motion and "apparently" black/shadow handling so all USA/Euro versions are an update behind.

Updates, well, to say "future proofed" for this is probably not the correct term as I imagine that the B will get whatever updates the C gets although maybe a bit later down the line and if that 3rd party chip is capable of any future improvements....

Like I said, this is just my opinion and experience with mobile phones that use different chipsets.

And whilst 3D is dead for now.... who knows what may happen in the future given that 3d seems to die then start back up again every now and then (especially with James Cameron's upcoming avatar films) but again, this is personal preference.
