Picked up my new car this weekend........955hp V10 Audi RS6! (HP figure updated 08/10/22)

Congrats on the PH write up. I noticed your brakes haven't been upgraded for a while, they don't seem very capable for the power and weight now? I see you are planning to upgrade them though.

Looked over someone's shoulder at work today, saw them looking at a pic of a hand next to an obscenely large brake pad. My colleague said '920bhp RS6' to which I replied 'ianh'. :D

It's got around a bit now!

now the same ianh thats top of the Waze leaderboard is it?

lovely car OP

Thanks matey!

Now, a lot of people make this comment on the capability of my brakes vs the extra power so this is a well worn answer just to clarify my brake situation -

Road Use - When I drive on roads I drive at a speed I feel comfortable at, whether thats 60mph or 160mph so the speed at which I drive hasn't changed since it was stock but what has changed is how fast I get to those same speeds due to the increase in power. Now the current AP Racing setup I have is track proven by me so, if my road speed is unchanged and my brakes coped before, then they will still cope now as I'm not going any faster. The misunderstanding is thinking that I would drive on the road like I would on the track and keep accelerating non-stop from corner to corner which, on the road, isn't safe with my levels of power.

Track Use - Absolute opposite of road use, I'll be hitting corners much faster so I need better brakes (AP Racing 410mm Radi-Cal) and pads (Pagid RS29) to cope with the increase in speed prior to the corners.

So, TL:DR - Cars more powerful but I still drive at the same speed, I just get there quicker but, as I also track drive, I'll need to change the brake setup which will have a positive effect for the road too.

I'm not a waze user, can you point me to this leaderboard so I can see who the imposter is?

I popped back to MRC yesterday to have a bunch of "post re-build" niggles sorted and then stayed for the AudiSRS forum Dyno day today where it made a much more respectable (and expected) 890hp and 1080nm which is more like the figures I was expecting rather than the 780hp at Surrey Rolling Road (left the water meth injection off, doh!)

I also got talking to the editor at Audi Tuner magazine and he's interested in doing a feature which is a bit worrying considering the "daily driver" status of my bodywork/paint etc :D

Absolutely love these motors.

All that power in a modest estate design. Totally understated.

Come across one in the wild for the first time the other day. Cleared the traffic and got onto a NSL road and pooof, it vanished on the horizon. I was doing about 75 and the manner it disappeared, never seen anything like it....years as a passenger and getting to observe all sorts.

When it was still 735hp I used this as an example of the acceleration it had - If you're coming out of a village doing say 30mph and accelerated non-stop you'd be doing double the motorway speed limit in just under 10 seconds, it kind of re-calibrates your mind as to what is "fast" :D

I also find that in most "fast" cars I've owned I normally think "come on" when I floor it whereas this is more like "woah, slow down" all the time. I definitely have to read the road much more carefully now and it's amazing how much I now notice/react all the signs which warn me of potential issues (cross-roads etc) well before seeing the actual hazard.

Definitely a steep curve and lessons to learn in a motor like this.

I imagine the moment I break free from the stop-start on my commute home i'd end up putting this beast on it's roof in a ditch. lol

A3s, Golfs and maybe a cheeky midlife crisis Mustang will be the extent of my endeavours.

Your car has actually ruined my new job. I spend every day driving Gallardo and F430 Spyders and whenever I plant my foot I think "hmm, not bad, but not as good as Ian's RS6" :p

Here's the Video from the AudiSRS forum Dyno day at MRC, it's always fun hearing your own car from the outside and the gearchange doesn't sound so "violent" inside the car :D -

*Click below to watch on Youtube*

There's a nice cloud of unburnt fuel from both at gear change as the Auto box cuts the spark to limit the torque during the change which my de-cat exhaust then occasionally sets on fire, which is fun at night when the back of the car glows orange for a second :D

Also, there's all manner of dust/bits/stones etc on the floor at the entrance which my exhaust blows around so it may have been that but I've watched the vid in 1080p and can't see anything specific come out of the exhaust.

Shall definitely be keeping an eye out for you at Marham when I'm back and forth getting ready for F35-B standup. Looks like a riot :D

Yes there is, just a tad of smoke. *brings back nightmares* :p
