Picked up my new car this weekend........955hp V10 Audi RS6! (HP figure updated 08/10/22)

RyanF- Enough time to get in my last rites before the horrible crash that follows :D

Bensons - Like the 0-60mph mentioned earlier, a drag-strip isn't the best place to see these as they are "relatively" poor off the line in comparison to GTR's etc due to limited 1st gear torque, slush box , no L/C, very grippy surface bogs down the engine etc but it should still do around 11-11.5secs at 130+ based on others than have done it.

Where it's scary is from 100 where the acceleration barely slows down as per the videos above.

Just like the M5 V10 beyond 100mph is their strength, pull to 200mph.

It's a 2nd-hand C6 RS6 set so £5k off a low mileage car thats breaking, new would be £12k+ from Audi!

Discs are a tadge over £2200 each new but there's a company in Germany which sell replacement rotors (you reuse the metal bell) for £3500 for all 4 discs.

Pads are *normal* price at <£300 for a set.

I'd looked at other makes (Movit etc) but using an Audi set makes much more sense (plug & Play etc).

About same price as Porsche for disc, but a set of pads for the 911 are around £500, Porsche tax for you.

There's a few over 900hp and at least 1 with over 1000hp in Poland (Sportmile) but the small engine bay restricts extracting much more power. There is literally no space already, so trying to add bigger rads, intercooler, turbos etc is extremely difficult.

Lightening would be a good start but again the car is such a massive lump (2.25 tons with a driver) that even with a diet it would still be very heavy.

You need weight for traction though.

I've been buying bits for my Christmas present to the RS6 -

An 850hp conversion

That's not even funny.

At what point does the drivetrain just think "Yeah... no" and give up in a huge explosion of gearbox innards, drive shafts, differentials, CV joints, and christ knows what else?! :p

Howard - the gearbox limit is around 850hp/1100nm but the rest cope well to 1000hp but most cars hit around 920-950hp at max on those turbos.

Also, 850hp is my starting point  while I bed things in, see what the weak points are etc I'm aiming for an achievable 900-920hp sometime in Spring.

Ah, slight snag - The company doing the uprated gearbox says they can't guarantee that it'll take any less than 8 weeks to complete upgrade/shipping etc, which puts it past Xmas!

So, as I'm very busy Jan/Feb, I've decided to wait until March before starting. This'll give me a bit more saving time too but it's an annoyance to have 95% of the parts sitting here staring at me :(

As a bonus my Ceramics should arrive mid Nov so I can at least I can get them fitted.

So, good news bad news (i.e. all change) -

Good(ish) - The ceramics seller dropped out which gave me some money to spend.
Bad - My new work contract took a slight pay hit so I've had to compromise on my spec list.

So instead of 900hp in spring I've got my car booked in to MRC in Dec for 800hp and 900hp will have to wait until late summer.

Just to keep me happy though I've fitted the 3in cat-back exhaust now - WOW!!!!! A much deeper sound than the stock with back-box removed, much smoother (less harsh), quieter at idle (good for my neighbours), the gear change "farts" are now all snappy/crackly explosions although, being non-resonated, it's a little droney (my biggest fear) at part throttle (hills etc) so I'll be adding Resonators

Now I've done it I wish it had been the very first thing I'd done now, it's that good. Fitting was a bit of a pain (needed to go back twice for very minor tweaks -still needs a final tweak) but it's a much better sound than messing around modifying the stock one.

To be fair the modded stock did sound better at idle-1500rpm (5-10mph) as the harsher sound was more noticeable buts as my new exhaust is modular, I can easily remove my back-boxes again by un-doing 1 clamp on each box but I can imagine that being stupidly loud.

Holy ****

I'll just sit in the corner then with my 507bhp :(

:D To be fair, on the roads there'd be little between them at legal speeds regardless of the power difference. I know as I've driven with Biggles V10 S6 and a friends older RS6 at the last OcUK Southern meet and there was nothing between us (450hp S6, 500hp RS6 and my 740hp) at road speeds.

All that power would only really show if we both started at 120-130mph and accelerated to 200mph. That's where the extra 300-400hp makes a huge difference, against all that wind resistance at higher speeds.
