Pictures of my car accident

Dont take this the wrong way as its a genuine question I ask myself every time I see this sort of awful accident in the news.

Did you not see him coming towards you and attempt to swerve?

Crikey! In the photos it looks like the footwell areas remained pretty intact, which is amazing.

What you say about the insurance dragging their feet makes me sad though.

Wow, amazing you all survived! I hope you all make a full recovery in due time. I am sure it must have made you appreciate what you have even more which can never be a bad thing!

If I presume '80mph head on' is not the combined speed but the speed both parties were travelling at then I doubt there was much time to see and react?

Without any disrespect to the OP, that is not the result of a combined 160 mph crash. It would be far far worse.

Vauxhall can keep all their advertising and marketing spend. If there was anything that would ever make me buy another one it is something like this, although to balance this out, I'm sure there are other similar stories from other manufacturers.

Jesus thats awful. I guess in many respects it happening at christmas is also a blow as every christmas it must now play on your mind.

Glad to hear your all ok (all things considered) and hope you get the huge payout you genuinelly deserve (2 years of treatment, still unable to run and aches in the cold)

Combined speed was 120Mph, he was doing 40Mph, I was doing 80Mph, overtaking in the fast lane.
Was 7pm Christmas day, so was dark, in the distance the lights looked as though they were on the correct side, by the time you realise he is on your side there is only time to think "oh ****!"

I also wondered this, and mean no offence by it.

Glad you are OK and hope you are sufficiently compensated.

Those pics remind me of Andybtsn crash that he had, amazing how well cars hold up but luck and physics was on your side that day, probably because you was going faster you put more force into his car rather than the other way around.

What are your feelings towards the drink driver?

This happened to me on the A1. I was doing around 75 in the outside lane as someone came towards me in the outside lane. It took a while for it to actually sink it what was happening. It was surreal, there was also a fair bit of traffic on my inside. I estimate the car coming at me was doing 40.

In the end I had to just take a gamble and whilst braking, swerve into the inside lane.

My heart was pounding, I was shaking, it happened so fast. I was swearing my head off and my Mrs turned to me and asks "Did you get his number plate?"

Yes dear, closing speed of around 120 mph and silly old me forgetting to get his number plate! :D

For me it was weird how long it took me to actually recognise what was happening and if your in the outside lane with traffic up the inside all you can do is break or risk cutting in.

Amazing the OP walked away from that TBH. I think looking at that wreck I'd have trouble driving again for a while as well.

So many ppl on here who had the same.

April 2001 had the same type, drunk driver from opposite side hit drivers side bang on 80MPH.

Broken left tibia / fibia, right femur (same nail as you, from hip to knee). Both wrists broken and right elbow replaced with metal one.

Learned how to walk again, do have a limp due to one side being shorter but I am alive.Dont mean for sympathy just to say life has to go on.

Get the nail out when the leg heals mate, if femur heals well you dont need it, otherwise you will always have a aching hip where top of nail rubs.

Thats some serious passenger compartment intrusion and mainly on your side! Did well to get away with that with your legs.

Obviously not a factor in your accident this time but, dude, they are seriously low tread tyres bald on the inside.
