Piers Morgan on TalkTV gets one million subscribers.

There are a large number of often younger Left supporting people who have no nuance with politics, give them the slightest sniff that a person in the media has shown the merest affinity for something they perceive as leaning to the Right and that person has to be demonised, ostracised, mocked and torn asunder by the pack.

One only has to look in any strongly left leaning forum, for example, the general discussion and politics sub forums of AV Forums to see this in action. Hyenas operate in a more cultured manner if the scent of Right leaning blood is on the wind. The Trump and Musk threads here show somewhat similar tendencies.

Hmmmm, seems a little deluded to say that's specific to the 'left'. Ignorance as a way of talking 'politics' I will concede has certainly made headway in the left, but it was birthed on the right. To say that it's more prevalent now to the former then it is to the latter I think is a little off the mark.

Regardless, You can't really deal with ignorance privately. Round a dinner table with the racist Nan, what's the point? Much better to embarrass the ignorant outwardly in public. Give them a platform then push them off it.

Also, what generation of young people haven't been outwardly vocal politically, one way or another? It's just that the platforms for discussing it have become much more accessible, especially to younger, more tech savvy people.

As previously mentioned, the phone hacking of Milly Dowler was enough for me.

That seems to have been the News of the World under Andy Coulson that did that, Piers Morgan was working at the Daily Mirror. The charge against Piers is that he knew phone hacking was occurring, since it was apparently a common practice in British newspapers at the time he very probably did. He has always said he didn't instruct anyone to hack a phone or hack a phone himself and hasn't been charged with anything. I guess any editor of a newspaper or even someone working for a newspaper in the early 2000's could have the same accusations thrown at them as Piers Morgan. Happy to be corrected but that's how I understand it. I'd hardly say it warrants being labelled a horrible person for life.

Far left, far right - they're just as crazy as each other.

Trying to talk sense is often drowned out with racist this, fascist that, woke this, snow-flake that. I'm trying to remember when 'Keep calm and carry on' was applicable in Britain, if it ever was.

I despise the left/right only viewpoint just as much as capitalist/socialist. There's so much grey in between, if we don't hold onto that grey it'll just be a pointless shouting match.

He never hacked dead people’s phones, that narrative came about as his phone hacking story broke around the same time as the more high profile NOTW case and thus lot of people mix up the two.

Still have no problem calling him morally bankrupt chode for doing it though, same goes for anyone hacking peoples phones.

News Corp where sharing information amongst themselves, hence why it's supposed everyone in News Corp (given that it was going on for 15+ years), including Piers/Mail Group etc, knew about the voicemail hacking going on at their other papers. But the Mirror Group were mostly delving into celebs, Heather Mills, Dianna (allegedly) etc, phones where Piers initially said he knew nothing/little of it but then fumbled the Leveson enquiring where it transpired he did in fact listen to the voicemail messages (of Heather Mills, iirc).
And he was also punted from the Daily Mirror for printing those faked British military torture pictures.

have you got any proof of this because he was never found guilty of any phone hacking?
He was Editor for the Daily Mirror.
Yes they were part of News International but he had nothing to do with the other papers that were done including The News Of The World.

Who tapped Milly Dowler's phone?

In 2014 Wallis was charged with conspiring to intercept communications, relating to his time as Deputy Editor of the News of the World, after he had left The Sunday People in 2003. In 2015 he appeared at the Old Bailey, where he was cleared after a four-day deliberation by the jury.26 Jan 2020

That's irrelevant, once someone in the media has shown right wing sympathies they are guilty of all and everything in some people's eyes ;)

Vincent has him banged to rights whatever :)
