Planet Coaster

I'm struggling to connect a path to the ride exit. Any ideas?

I find it easier to do the path out of the exit, if you're already doing it that way then just fight the tool for awhile and it will work eventually :p

when i click terrain -> water it doesnt do anything

help ?

Yup you dig a hole first then go back to the water, a blue level line will show when water can be placed.

Wow, the game is really well done. Loving it thus far. Amount of detail is astonishing, even seeing little things like the position for people to hold at the ride and said positions lighting up in the dark and so on, very well detailed.

I think I have just got used to the issues that the game has, the path tool I try to use as little as possible to be honest because it hasn't really changed in the way it works since alpha 1.

The big parks take some serious time mind, I would say in a session I'm building one rollercoaster and it's scenery so that's about 3 - 4 hours per ride. The workshop is a must for fleshing out parks and open areas quickly though!

Speaking of someone has built cranes on the workshop... :')

Edit : Does the forum auto resize images yet??

Yeah, the paths dont feel like they've had the same sort of love and attention other areas have had, its had cosmetic improvements but its a shame theres some really simple QoL things missing. I mentioned tunnelling earlier, coasters can do it, so i dont see why paths cant have something similar. At the same time, i feel like they need to be more aggressive in their placement, if you want a path going somewhere then it should plough through it. It shouldnt ride every silly lump & bump, and it shouldnt refuse to place because of a bump (especially when you have to delete paths to terraform something a meter or so over from it) or something. Other stuff is minor, but when we add complex terraforming and not just digging out blocks, it needs complex solutions for things like paths.

That crane is cool too, im looking forward to seeing all the weird props people put together, and no, for some reason we dont have an automatic image resizer mod on here :(

Is the cheapest place to buy this on Steam? Can't seem to find anywhere else that can do it any cheaper :/

AFAIK its not being sold offline, and im not even sure places like GMG are even selling it because Frontier are selling direct and on Steam. Doubt it'll be any cheaper till after xmas and that'll probably be the 10% offered with preordering.

There's no doubt in my mind that they will patch in some more fixes, I agree with the paths not having auto tunnel or similar. Saying that I don't really like the way the auto tunnel works on rides, the blue grid thing is a pain to work with I tend to dig out the space first then rise it back up afterwards.

Shame about the auto resizing, I'm used to copy paste 1440p screens in everywhere else. :o

Wowwwww, performance yo! 1440p ultra kills my fps :(

Try dropping shadows to Medium, I gained 12-20FPS. Other settings I have dropped are background atmospherics to something that I've forgot, water down one to high (It practically looks the same and gives back some frames) and DOF is off. Capping guest limits too helps performance later on into a build!

Is there a way to make custom signs? Sure I saw frontier showing this recently.

The sign will say if it is editable in the name of it, not all of them are though. IIRC all of the light up signs that are blank can be edited.

Well, only had time for a couple of hours this evening but seems to be exactly what I was hoping for!

I was initially disappointed at the lack of a tutorial (I know they have links to videos but I quite like an in game one), but I just fiddled around and worked out most things without too much effort. Struggled with paths a bit but getting there.

I can see myself spending a lot of time with this, they've done an amazing job. :)

Some things I'd improve...

I wish the path builder was similar to cities skyline. Their system allows you to more accurately control curves.... For example perfect circle roads are very easy in that game.

I don't like coaster building at all. RCT: world looks like an awful game compared to planet coaster but the coaster building system looks a million times better.

Employing people is a pain. You go on park manager ... Then click employees.... Then hire one person... Then it all closes... So I have to go on it all over again if I need to hire multiple people. Then if I want to train them.... I have to do it individual. It would be nice to have a button that's like 'raise all possible staff to level two'.

I would like a button that opens up all the shops and rides as I sometimes forget to open some.

Pretty disappointed with the park management side overall. Not very in depth. Talks about families and teens and how much you can market to them but what's the benefit... They spend about the same money. There's not a lot of depth.

Im very much enjoying the creative aspect of this game. Its where it really shines.

I agree, the interface needs more work as does the management side. Frontier recently do seem to lack depth though, much like E:D.

Does crossfire work okay? If so really hoping we get a SLI fix!

Its not implemented, and apparently with the way the engine works the benefits of grunt is pretty much outweighed by new calculations to spread the load. One of the devs explained it properly on Reddit in the last week and said that while its not out of the question, its unlikely because of the minimal gains and the tiny market using it - they even mentioned something about steam not even bothering to list multi-gpu in their hardware surveys because its such a meaningless amount
I also have a feeling someone brought up that Elite Dangerous was in the same boat.

I'm struggling to connect a path to the ride exit. Any ideas?

Have this issue aswell, Infact I dont get the ride pathing that much.
When you put a ride down the 3 options come up (place entrance, exit and path) so you do the first two and then get to the third.

The path you then put down is the 'queue' path right? Is it any different from other pathing?
Also once you have done that I cant find a way of putting the exit path in, I have to close that tool completely, then go into paths to make it work.

That cant be the simplest way of doing it surely?

Played up to the second scenario last night, got the silver on it but then my bank balance started to collapse so have to restart it tonight as trying to get golds before moving on to the next.
