PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

IMO you cannot compare PUBG to COD. COD is an arcade shooter with silly nonsense like sliding etc, little strategy.

no one is comparing the "strategy" element to COD/APEX - What people are saying is that PUBG has fallen so far behind in terms of improving the basic mechanics of the game. How slick the attachments are/looting/movement ?? They are miles and miles off with this part of the game.

COD/APEX and PUBG are different games but the devs have failed badly in terms of dealing with the things that matter. Sprucing up the graphics etc is not what they should be focusing on, Look at valorant, looks like something from 2000's but the gameplay/slick movement/tactics are spot on for what people want to play. PUBG devs have focused on completely the wrong.

Gliders
Pink Weapon skins
Outfits
High heels
Dinosaur costumes, wizards and S&M outfits

Never mind the important stuff like - cheaters/desync/gameplay/movement/looting etc etc

it depends how you play ? there is strategy in anything if you apply it. cods very " skill based " the problem is often in public games if you semi decent you can stomp people just like in pubg but because games are far shorter it may not seem that its skillful. we play every night full team we stomp everyone apart from other full teams who know what they doing. thats where the strats come in playing decent people just like pubg. pubg is easy just like cod.

what we are talking about is the reasons why some of us who were loving pubg why we dont any more. with valid arguements. i havent tried vikendi yet will try it later.

Sorry but this game just feels like crap to play now compared to the likes of warzone. It cumbersome and clunky to play, the game mechanics are poor, just things like opening doors and picking up loot is rubbish.

Loads of server issues last night it seemed. Played exclusively Vikendi and I'm a bit underwhelmed as things stand. I've not taken advantage of the train, but it is waaaaay too loud.

People complain about the clunkyness of PUBG - it's built that way for a reason. Everything you do is specific and is meant to be thought about.

COD on the other hand is meant to be easy to play, it's made for all ages, quick to pick up, quick to learn, easy to get to a moderate skill level..
PUBG on the other hand, through its evolution ensures skill plays a big factor in the every game.
Opening doors is not fast - because it's strategical. It forces you to think about what you're going to do before and after you open that door. It's not intended for you to run in guns blazing through every door way, that would be the same as every other game (zzZZzzzZ).
Weapon attachments, configuring your gun IN-GAME rather than through a loadout, or only having a single attachment that fits in that slot is not what the game is all about. You forget that when comparing it with other games.
All of these 'clunky' things is what makes a kill more appreciated in PUBG, compared to any other game. Warzone has such a low skill ceiling, it's a bit silly. Recoil is almost non-existent, bullet drop is minimal, its easy to collect cash and buy your perfect loadout. I had a fairly high kill solo game a few days ago and wasn't shaking in my boots like I would be in pubg in a final circle.

I'm certain everyone on this forum will agree that a single kill in PUBG means more to them than any other single kill in any other game they play. That's what players keep coming back to it for.

The only hope is next gen consoles with locked eco system for an improved cheat free experience, sure it wont be perfect and with PS5 releasing with Keyboard and mouse supported at release, i know which ship i am jumping on.

You know PS4 already has native keyb/mouse support? You can use it on Warzone, I've tried it, it works pretty much the same as PC.
The only thing I'd be looking forward to in next gen, would be variable refresh rate support, there's only so smooth a 60Hz game can feel.

If that came to next gen and high frames worked out of the box, I'd genuinely switch to console gaming for games like COD going forward. zero cheaters would be lovely.

You guys do realise that consoles have mods like cronusmax that enables them to gain an advantage. Maybe not as bad as the pc cheaters but still won't be a cheat free platform.

That's one thing I will say for PUBG, it gets you emotionally invested. I've had a few wins on Warzone, and as said above, it doesn't get you going like PUBG does. PUBG, when I'm in the top 5, my heart is pounding out my chest and I'm almost hyperventilating :D but Warzone, I barely feel anything other than a little excitement

Couldn't have put it better myself.

While I agree with all of this, as someone who doesn't have the time to put thousands of hours into multiple games let alone a single game, the low skill ceiling of Warzone has made me enjoy it a bit more than PUBG.

I've got 500 something hours of PUBG, but when your first start playing it took my nearly 100 hours before I felt confident going into firefights, and whenver i've taken a few weeks or months off of it, i've never been able to stick at it long enough (Probably a month of playing at least three evenings a week) to get back to that feeling of genuinely thinking I have a chance of winning at least 1 game a night.

While this is probably very specific to me due to my gaming skills, it's just the one thing that has stopped me ever being in love like PUBG like I did back in 2017/18 where all I could think about would be getting home from work and getting online.

Warzone however, you can jump on and if you see someone first probably 75% of the time you're going to kill them, and you have less chance of spending 20 minutes running around not seeing an enemy only for your squad to be decimated by someone with 10,000 hours and their ungodly KAR98k skills, or a bunch of Chinese hackers.

However, I cannot deny the heart racing, palms sweating, breath snatching feeling of being in the top 5 of a PUBG match, especially in your first few hundred hours of the game where it's quite a rarity! Never had a feeling like it while playing games! :D

The problem with pubg has always been and still is - they shoot themselves in the foot.

They have a gamethat is semi-realistic then they fail to address the issues that have dogged it for years that could easy be fixed with all the money that they have made from it.

Desync, cheaters, poor performance (that is going backwards)...

They've also done a really shoddy job with the engine they have, graphically it's improved a lot in the last year or so, but the movement is just horrible, it feels like you've got a fridge strapped to your head, and that there's black ice everywhere when trying to turn and move.

I have 1200 hours in PUGB. I started playing two games similar to PUBG which I really liked.

Ring of Elysium - more cartooney. Gliders and bikes, grappling hooks. I like the fact you can start where you want. That if you add a gun and you have attachments for it it automatically adds those attachments.

COD: Warzone - I promised i'd never play a COD game but i'm finding it really fun. There are too many options with regards to guns, loadout, etc. At first I disliked the whole Gulag side where you have a chance to renter the game AND your squad mates can buy you back in. Now I really enjoy it. This is a game that's hard to win given dead is not really dead.

In short, there's lots of options out there and you can flip around them when you get bored.

I just wish the developers would pay much more attention to the sound engine, if it's possible. There are some sounds that are overly loud, like the buggy and the new train. A complete remix of the sound levels would be appreciated!

You can do this in PUBG too :)
