PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Bought a PS4 Slim off the Moogleys barely a month ago, and I've just decided to already upgrade to the Pro - since I am enjoying the gaming/OS experience so much. My PC setup is more or less offline until April (new room setup) so I've been playing a few exclusives and having a great time on the console. So glad I didn't opt for an Xbox.

I've got a 1080p 40" H6400 TV so I won't be benefiting from the 4k, but improved frame rats I can definitely go for and I'll be future proofed for when I eventually do go 4k. Can't wait for it to arrive from John Lewis.

The latest Beta update also allows games/game saves to be installed on an external HDD up to 8TB apparently

Finally i can make use of my 7200rpm 2TB ex usb3 HDD

Great news about the boost mode. Lets hope some developers take the cap off some games, GTA would be great with higher fps.

Nice, and here I was looking to buy the Nyko kit. I will just spend my money now to grab a The 8TB Seagate one

Also that we can play 3D movies by using the PSVR an added bonus, but I want that unicorn err firmware update they promised about 4K BR playback....

Is there a way of telling if you're in the beta? I was with my old PS4 but after upgrading to the Pro I don't know if I need to reactivate anything.

You get an email stating you're in and then you follow a link for a code which enables the beta on your console.

Worth going from a PS4 and 1080i TV to Pro and 4k HDR etc? I can get a 4k for £370 odd but not HDR. Still deciding to treat myself with..

I guess the pro and 4k would make more sense if I hadn't bought a current gen console first.

Most folks on here say HDR is better than the resolution.

This boost mode seems to have made significant gains for non patched games, fair play.

In my opinion HDR > 4K

4K is ok and can look quite nice in places, but HDR done right is a revelation.

Being a grumpy old ******* there's very few things left under the sun to delight me, but I count HDR alongside my SSD as hardware that managed to make me smile the past few years.

I have a Samsung KS8000 btw.

Had some time to play with my PS4 Pro this weekend. What an amazing piece of hardware when used properly! Uncharted 4 looks sensational and Ratchet and Clank is border line CGI movie in places.

An amazing bit of kit. I have both of these games too. And playing them on a Samsung 4K tv, thy look just incredible.

If you haven't got it yet, rise of the tomb raider also looks absolutely fantastic on a 4K screen through the PRO. I'd recommend it ! Great game.

Agreed that HDR is a much bigger upgrade than pure resolution to 4k. 4k makes a big difference the larger the screen or the closer you sit to the screen.

I thought it looked better than the movie.
