PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

What they need to do is what Microsoft have done with the One S; make it so that the increased performance is available all the time so that older games which ran dynamic resolutions or frame rates get a 'free' boost without having to be explicitly patched to take advantage of the new spec.

But that's not what happens at all.

Banging on about hdr on the pro, then announce we all get it anyway.

This boost in graphics best be worth £350 (that's a large sum in the console world imo)

As from what I can see it offers nothing else worth talking about.

£350 is not a large in the console world, it's pretty much the sweet spot for new consoles.

Lara Croft game - Rise of the Tomb Raider 20th anniversary - straight from the dev's mouth, this game has three selectable modes -

*4K Mode
*1080p unlocked frame rate mode - 45 fps or above
*1080p visual mode - 30 fps locked but with graphical extras

The dream is dead.

Digital Foundry articles on that game will be something. We'll see what minerals it really has.

I'd be holding off on buying a 4K to what with all these new HDR consoles and the like, I understand that they aren't the best at the moment with input lag and stuff.

Doesn't matter, Sony is well aware of the specs is out there but they can still change things at the last minute. Hence why word is going round Sony want to clear things up. They could even delay it for a month or so if they need to address the UHD issue. Not as if they have Scorpio to deal with on this side of the year.

I'll take some of whatever drugs you are on.

And HDR creates terrible input lag from what I have read, even in game mode.

I hadn't a clue why everyone was mentioning input lag on 4K TVs but it seems it's only important for competitive multiplayer which I don't care about.

Yeah, and the rest, twitch games like CoD as well will be important for input lag.

Look at the new Tombraider for PS4 pro, gives you these option in game
4k at 30 FPs (said to be native 4K)
1080P @60 with dips to 45 min
1080P locked to 30 with all the GPu bells and whistles you can through at it.

I like this idea and its something you can select on the fly by the sounds of it, hopefully other devs will take this idea on board.

I don't get this, gamers crave stable framerates, they are offered a mode that goes between 45-60 and people celebrate.

What am I missing?
