Pretty weak lineup. The obvious challenge is why not just buy an original PS1 down the car boot. Unlike the N64 most PS1 games are dirt cheap

Can't believe it's mission games like Gran Turismo. I guess Tony Hawk is a licensing nightmare but surely they could have done it.
Or a PSP/Vita and use the PS Classics on the PSN?
+1 . Weak sauce lineup IMO and missing many of the must have titles like castlevania, WipeOut, crash bandicoot, tomb raider, gran Turismo, Tony hawk's, etc.
in fact there's quite a lot of shovelware on it which has no right to be there! I'm not paying nearly £100 for that selection!
The main issue will be that even if it does happen will there actually be enough free storage on the system to add your own games? In fact given most of the storage on PS1 discs is used by audio/video data and not the game itself id expect Sony might do something clever with the emulation (like applying MP3/MP4 compression) to save them spending money on flash storage. It'll be interesting to see how much memory is in the device.
Overall it's just sounding like a very low effort device on Sony's part. Poor built in games selection, expensive price tag, basic controllers without analogue or rumble, etc. I think I'd rather wait for the inevitable Playstation 2 release so it comes with decent controllers for emulating other titles and consoles!
To be fair ps1 games are starting to get quite expensive in recent years as, being Sony's first games console, they're becoming quite collectible. You'd certainly struggle to buy all the titles there and a PS1 for £90.

The glaring issue with this generation in general. An N64 mini would be just as good memory destroying. Some games are best remembered as they were at the time imo

Agree. For me the ones that aged well are some of the RPGs like suikoden, alundra etc. Not so much the 3D ones. Well you know what I mean
Yeah, well it's obvious the PS4 re-releases may be effecting the lineup. i didn;t know Castlevania just hada PS4 release - That was £16 well spent

Those games are cheaper on PS1 or PS Store than the console price!
The NES and SNES at least had some of the rarer games.
Just saw MGS on the list, had to pick it up, will be so good to play it exactly as i did 19 years ago.

Am I right in saying this will play the games at a higher quality compared to the original console? Resolution, FPS etc.

I would not play any of those. Toshinden is weak compared to Tekken, twisted metal first game was never that good, 2nd one was though. waste of time tbh
I doubt it unfortunately. It'll probably look better than connecting an original console given it's HDMI but as I'm sure the hardware will basically be a raspberry pi of some kind of guess there won't be the hardware overhead to do anything fancy in terms of increasing the resolution or adding additional filtering/etc .
It'll be interesting to see whether the do add anything to improve the looks of the games though.
