Playstation Plus

I'm not sure I'll renew mine when the time runs out. There have only been a few games released for it while I've had it that I actually enjoy. Doesn't seem like its worth the money.

I know £30 or so is a lot for ps plus, but I don't really care much for the free games, if there is a good one I consider it just a bonus.

I really don't mind paying the fee for just the online gaming and occasional ps plus discount's on the ps store.

+1

It's only £2-3 per month. There is usually a 'free' game that I put a fair bit of time into every 3-4 months. With the discounts / online play, I'm quite happy to pay for PS+.

I buy all of my games digitally, so I more than make up for the cost of the subscription with the above.

I don't mind paying the sub as the price is so low and I need it for MP anyway. Anything I get that I want to play I see as a bonus - co-op with my son playing Helldivers recently was great fun and without it being part of PS+ we'd never have had the experience.

Most of the content is poor but there are good things from time to time. And I do sometimes buy the discounted digital stuff.

Plus I do still enjoy some of the titles from yesteryear. :p

There are things like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus that need PS+ to play.

Went to extend my PS+ and it came up with an error when I clicked on the pay button.
So I waited 5 minutes and then tried again...

And afterwards I found out that the first payment that error must off gone through...(2 years going cost £79.98 )

I couldn't take more than 15 seconds. What's he on about? :D

He reckons that no one wants to give their big games away to 20+ million people. Before on PS3 there was only a few million hence the bigger titles etc, that and they should drop PS3 and Vita games to concentrate more on PS4 titles.

One thing though is it was around 3+ years into the life of the PS3 that the PS+ started and to begin with it wasn't top games. It took a little while to get to that level and by then the back catalogue was massive and had plenty of games to use. It's three years this November, had some decent and some really good ones along with plenty of poor but it should get better over time.

Guess we will see but with Gold throwing in bigger titles it might push Sony to do the same but that's not guaranteed.

This is what a lot don't seem to get, a lot bashing ps plus for the selection of free games most likely never owned a PS3.

If I remember it was roughly the last 6-12 months of the PS3 life before the PS4 hit that we started to see big titles i.e Red Dead Redemption.

I think the problem now is, you need PS+ to play online.

This isn't a service which provides a paid subscription for access to 'free' games, this is a required service if you want to play online with your pals, the games now are considered a bonus.

The online service for PS4 was awful at release (PSN), most consumers would have probably stopped subscribing if they didn't need the service to play with their friends.

The games are pretty bad (compared to Xbox offerings each month), so I can understand why most are disgruntled each month.

Sony have sold a huge amount of PS4 consoles over the Xbox and because of this IMO I feel that they have allowed the PS+ service to become what it is, because they feel they have won in this region and no longer need to compete.

Microsoft are trying hard to claw back by introducting their own service with excellent games on it most months. Mainly in the hope that it will attract players to jump ship. At which point when they have, they will most likely do the same thing.

Competition is a healthy thing, my only gripe is that we as consumers are required to pay to play online using a P2P service which isn't run by Sony.

Even the dedicated services will need to be provided by the makers and publishers of the titles. So what are you paying for?

Spot on, they charged simply because Microsoft did for so long with the 360. It's pretty obvious they wanted a piece of the pie and now they are not to worried because of the big lead in consoles sold etc.

If Microsoft keep giving decent games though, then PS4 might have it's hand forced into doing something. Guess we will find out soon.
